Anyone liquid cool or external fan cool their PCs?

I love my new HTPC but it still is a little loud. I had a spare 120mm fan laying around and plan to run some duct to the back off the computer and see if I can get some suction going on. Anyone have any other cute ideas for quitely colling there HTPC?

Re: Anyone liquid cool or external fan cool their PCs?

Your p4 CPU puts out a lot of heat. You can't do anything about it, those cpus are volcanos. Your HDDs, vid card and tuner also put out a lot of heat. The only solution is good ventilation (you have to get the heat out of the case) Ventilation = fans = noise. The more heat, the more fans required and the more noise generated.
You are on the right track with a 120 mm fan. The larger the fan, the more airflow (or the same airflow at much lower fan speed = much less noise). Aftermarket cpu and vid card collers (like those by Zalman) are usually much quieter than the stock coolers, coupled with quiet ventilation fans it can lower the decibel output a lot.

Google "silent htpc" for about a zillion things you can try

Yeah I've done that. My fave so far is the guy who is cooling his power supply in a mineral oil bath.

Re: Anyone liquid cool or external fan cool their PCs?

I'd like to change to a bigger HTPC case since mine only has 60mm fans. All that heat gets concentrated in the smaller case.

Re: Anyone liquid cool or external fan cool their PCs?

Antec P180 ... I have two.
http://www.antec.com/pdf/flyers/P180I.pdf

A chamber at the bottom of the case houses the HDs (x4) and power suppy. It puts a 120 fan between them to move the air.

The top part of the case pulls air thru the front and the hot air rises to go out the top/back.

I have all of the fans running on their lowest setting.
