Re: New TV Specs
Those specs say that it supports analog and digital computer video and then they list the resolutions that it support. 1920x1080 is as high as you can get for HDTV, so that is a good thing.
Keep in mind, however, that just because it "supports" a resolution doesn't actually mean the same thing as the "native resolution" of the TV, itself. The "native resolution" is the important part. That is the actual resolution that it can really display (real pixels.) Also, some HDTV's can support certain resolutions, but only from certain kinds of inputs. It is all very confusing, believe me. The best advice I can give you is to check out avsforum.com. That place is THE authority on high-end video. |

Re: New TV Specs
Since one of the resolutions is 1360x768, I'd bet the panel is 1366x768, or 720P.
Just a guess.

Re: New TV Specs
This is the new mitsubiti televisions. They have a DVI PC only input.
For all other inputs suppose to take true 1080P (instead the older models took 1080P but down converted to 1080i and upcoverted to 1080p) I'm just trying to figure out what the PC input is doing. How do I figure out to convert the resolution to lines of resolution (like 720P and 1080i/p)? I remember SXVGA and SVGA and VGA is OLD school video card jargon. I didn't know people still used the jargon. What does SXGA and WXGA mean? |

Re: New TV Specs
If the TV supports (and displays) true 1080P, then its native resolution must be 1920x1080. Your video card should allow you to set these resolutions, without too much difficulty. You will ~probably~ have to tweak it to get it just right, however. Powerstrip is the swiss army knife tool to do this, though Nvidia and ATI do have some limited ability within their drivers.

Re: New TV Specs
Ok, I took the plunge and got the set. Now need to configure my computer for setup. I have a AIW 9700pro with a DVI-I output.
I looked at the Command-line arguments in Beyond TV I'm using BTV Link My questions are : What the difference between Executive FS, true FS, Fake FS? Can I use more than one command parameters? I currently use \network I'm going to try to run 1080 from my card (DVI) (is that 1920x1080?), should I need a command line argument for BTV link? But as Hawkboy pointed out WXGA is 1024x768, what is this 720? |

Re: New TV Specs
1080p = 1920x1080 non-interlaced
1080i = 1920x1080 interlaced 720p = 1280x720 non-interlaced. Based on the specs in the initial post, this tv is NOT capable of 1080p. The native resolution is 1360x768, which is slightly larger than 720. It accepts 1080i as input and downsamples. It is always best to run at the native resolution, so set your card to 1360x768. Tom

Re: New TV Specs
Tscales,
I understand what you say. This is why I'm asking and am confused. This tv is Mitsubishi 73831. Native resolution of the tv is 1080P for All the connections (maybe except the DVI-I computer connection). However, this tv has a DVI-I computer connection. The specs I listed (but they may be wrong/changed, I will look in my manual when I get the tv tomorrow) are taken from the Mitsubishi website. Maybe the 1360x768 is best handled through the DVI-I connection? It may be doing some conversions from that connection. hmmmm. |

Re: New TV Specs
OK, just downloaded the user manual (100+ pages!).
It supports true 1080p @ 60hz. Set your resolution for 1920x1080

Re: New TV Specs
Thanks for your trouble, tscales. I hope you didn't have dial-up!
I too downloaded and was checking. The tv PC-DVI can take both analog and digital. I will configure when I get the tv to see how easy this works. Hope I don't need Powerstrip but if I do, I'll have it handy. |

Re: New TV Specs
You should be good to go. Just keep in mind that you may have to tweak the screen size/position to get it just right. i found this to be true on my sony. You would figure that they would get this stuff right but I guess they leave the tweaking up to us.

Re: New TV Specs
Thanks all, I'll report back tormorrow regarding the pc connection.
Zogg, might want to see if there is a firmware update for your screen. You have to call Mitsubishi directly. Does anyone have any idea of the following? : Quote from earlier: looked at the Command-line arguments in Beyond TV I'm using BTV Link My questions are : What the difference between Executive FS, true FS, Fake FS? Can I use more than one command parameters? I currently use \network I'm going to try to run 1920x1080 from my card (DVI) , should I need a command line argument for BTV link? |
