Motorola DCT2224 Audio Settings

I was wondering what are good Audio Settings for a Motorola DCT 2224 Cable Box.

I'm connecting it to a Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE PCI Card using S-Video and red/white Stereo RCA Audio Cables (I'm using BTV 4).

My BTV Server's Video Card is connected to a SDTV using S-Video.
My BTV Server's Sound Card is connected to a *Stereo System using red/white Stereo RCA Audio Cables.

My goal is a natural sounding, properly balanced and separated Stereo Signal.

Here's the Audio Setting Options I have on the Motorola DCT 2224 Cable Box:

*I'm asking this because my Stereo System is currently in the repair shop, and can't get an accurate gauge on the difference of each setting at this time.
So basicly, If I choose the wrong settings, I won't notice it until I get my stereo back...

Also, if any of you can clue me in on what the "Compression" and "Matrix" options do on this Cable Box, it'd be greatly appreciated.

In case you wanted (or need to) know,
I have Houston's "Time Warner Cable" service, at least for the time being.

EDITED TO ADD:
In my BTV Recording Profile, my Settings are:
Video: MPEG 2, Best (DVD Ready) [Unmodified].
Audio: 48000 Hz, 384 kbps. [Modified for higher bitrate].

Re: Motorola DCT2224 Audio Settings

I use Heavy compression and stereo output for my boxes hooked to my BTV machine. I've had the best luck with these settings with regard to stable audio.

Ultimately, the compression setting determined the variability between soft and loud audio passages, while the 'matrix' setting creates a (poor, IMHO) surround-sound effect.
