Re: TVs / Monitors of Choice

Yessir! Connectivity question - the TV has a VGA (PC) interface as well as HDMI. Right now I've got my PC connected to the TV using a DVI->VGA adapter on my 6600GT and a regular VGA cable connecting that to the TV.

Should I go for a DVI->HDMI adapter? Any advantage?

Re: TVs / Monitors of Choice

Using DVI to HDMI should theorhetically be better. However, I can't really tell the difference when using VGA or DVI inputs on my LCD TV.

Re: TVs / Monitors of Choice

...and after an outlay of $100(!) for a DVI->HDMI cable, all is well.

Re: TVs / Monitors of Choice

Is it too late to return that cable? You can get one that works well for much less:

PCM-2296-03: Cable HDMI to DVI-D Single Link, M/M, 3', $12.95

I'm fortunate that Central Computer is a local company, so I was able to walk in and purchase one directly. I'm pleased with the result on my system...

The benefit of the DVI->HDMI cable vs. the VGA cable is that you eliminate the digital->analog->digital conversions. It's a digital connection all the way from the source to the destination.

Re: TVs / Monitors of Choice

Well, I probably could return the cable, but everything is connected and working now, and my wife will be PO'd if I mess with it any more. :-) Next time I have a trip to San Jose (3/20), I'll stop at Fry's and stock up on some more fun stuff.
