Stuck on "Reconnect the USB Receiver"

When I attempt to install the firefly software (version 1.2.1) for my firefly mini, the basic setup part of the process gets stuck on a screen that says
"Reconnect The USB Receiver". It just stays on that screen forever. I have tried uninstalling the software and following the troubleshooting guide here:

First thread on Google when you search: "snapstream reconnect usb receiver" (sorry I can't post direct link)

However, no matter what I do it just gets stuck on that screen. I have tried this on two separate computers with the same results. If I don't install any software at all, but just plug in the USB receiver, it is recognized and I can use the arrow keys and the OK key. However, there is no way to program any of the other keys.

Thanks for any help

Yes, I have the firefly mini. Can you link me to the software that I should be downloading?

http://download.snapstream.com/suppo..._Installer.zip

there you go, you were using the full Firefly's software.
The mini doesn't have the software Beyond Media Basic like the Firefly does.

Re: Stuck on "Reconnect the USB Receiver"

Okay, I downloaded and installed that, and I am now able to specify what the firefly button opens. However, I still see no way for me to program the remote other than that one button. I am trying to use the remote for boxee, according to these instructions:

boxee :: forum - View Single Post - SnapStream Firefly Remote and Boxee

I created the Boxee.xml file and placed it in the folder specified by the link above, but it is not recognized. The only buttons on the remote that boxee responds to are the four arrow keys and the center OK button.

What is the correct method for programming this remote for Boxee?

Thanks!

Re: Stuck on "Reconnect the USB Receiver"

the mini is a HID device so it's like a keyboard.

But how do I map these commands into the boxee keyboard shortcuts? Do I have to use a program like EventGhost or LM Gestion?

Re: Stuck on "Reconnect the USB Receiver"

you shouldn't have to map anything, most of Boxee is used with the arrow keys and the OK button, what are you trying to do?

The big thing is I need a button that goes back, or up one level (the equivalent of right click when you are navigating with a keyboard/mouse).

Additionally, I would like to use the play/pause/ff/rew keys.

You need to install a third party software (like mine, see signature) to customize the other buttons.

Stéphane.

Re: Stuck on "Reconnect the USB Receiver"

Do you have a profile for the FF mini? Also, the LM Gestion site says that "Exit" should work as browser back by default (ie, without LMG installed). This is not the case for me.... is that simply out of date info?

Thanks

Application profiles do exist for the Firefly Mini.

No this is not out of date information. The FF Mini should send an Application Command / Browser Backward when you press on the "Exit" button (according to this document listing all the FF Mini default assignments).

Regards,
Stéphane.
