Firefly Does Work With Windows Vista 64-bit Edition!!!!
Okay, after reading some information over on these forum and other sites and after massive attempts to properly setup my Home Theater PC powered by SnapStream's products (Beyond TV, Beyond Media, FireFly) but under the Vista Ultimate x64 OS so that I can play back retail purchased Blu-ray movies (Blu-ray will not work under 32-bit including XP... I've tried! Well, it will but copy protected discs will not play that is.) I have finally found a solution to get FireFly working along with Beyond Media.
1. Beyond TV is easy to get working as version 4.8 is compatible right off the bat with Vista thankfully. 2. To get Beyond Media installed properly you must first download and install a Microsoft DirectX update file... http://download.snapstream.com/webin.../mdxredist.msi After that download the newest release of Beyond Media (which you will need your product key for) and then run the installer. 3. FireFly is a little tricky. The Setup of FireFly using the 8MB download (the most recent release - 1.2.1 I think) is no problem as long as you keep bypassing the 2 error message that will come up. Just click "Search for Solution and Close Program" and then FireFly will finish installing properly. However, when it asks for the receiver to be plugged in, it may not detect it. This stumped me! What you need to do with it plugged in is go to Windows Update and search for available updates. It should find the updated Wireless Receiver device driver. Install this and then rerun the FireFly setup wizard again. This time it should detect the remote no problem. I just hope that I didn't just jinx myself now coming back to this forum to post the solution for getting the complete SnapStream Home Theater PC solution fully compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit. |

Re: Firefly Does Work With Windows Vista 64-bit Edition!!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for this post. I was looking for a way to get Firefly working on Windows 7/64 and this did the trick. Just ignore all the error messages and continue with the setup, and it works fine.
