USB receiver might be dead

I've tried different USB ports, but I believe my firefly receiver is dead. The light comes on the remote when I press any button, but I just can't get it to grab the signal. The receiver LED comes on as well when plugged in, and the setup wizard detects when I plug it in. I've tried putting the remote right up to the receiver, uninstalling and reinstalling but its just not picking up the signal from the remote. Also tried new batteries in the remote without any luck. Not sure what the warranty is on these devices, but I'm willing to try any other troubleshooting means. I miss the utility in the remote, the dvico fusion remote just can't match it for BTV. Any advice is appreciated.

Re: USB receiver might be dead

Have you tried to see that the remote and receiver is set to the same channel?

Re: USB receiver might be dead

Would this be a possible issue despite that I only have one remote? Thanks  I will give it a shot and keep you posted.

Unhappy Re: USB receiver might be dead

Just got my firefly today, and I am stuck at the exact same place every time.

I have now tried the remote on two different IBM Computers, 1 laptop and one desktop - and none of them is able to receive any signals from the remote.

Installation is fine on both computers (XP SP2 Danish) - it is while running the Firefly Setup Wizard - just after "Please Plug In Or Reconnnect The USB Receiver" and Receiver Detected, it says "Please Press The OK Button".

And i press and press and press the OK Button, but to no avail.

I did try the change channel listener trick, it did not work either.

Did try switching between different USB-ports (the desktop has 8) but it did'nt helt anything.

Clues anyone ?

Re: USB receiver might be dead

You guys have tried putting in some store-bought batteries instead of the ones that it came with, right?
some Duracells or Energizers?

If you are using rechargable batteries, try the non-rechargable ones.

Hmm... Another thing to look for is the red LED between the Close and Maximize buttons at the top of the remote.
Does it light up when you press a button on the firefly?

Re: USB receiver might be dead

Thanks for your reply. I did try Duracell's finest, same thing.

And yes, the small red LED at the top is blinking just fine, every time a button is pressed.

Also just installed on a Toshiba Portege, the exact same issue.
