I've identified one issue with the Firefly remote and my software : when the Firefly is disconnected and connected events are sent and my application are of course triggering those events. The "connected" event is not handled proprely, so it makes the LM Remote KeyMap send another "Power" button press.

So if you are using the "Power" button on the firefly to put the computer in Standby or Hibernation, then when waking up the computer : it will right away return in Hibernation or Standby

Other than this problem : I can very put the computer into Hibernation and Standby and upon wakeup LM Remote KeyMap doesn't produce any error messages.

So could you try to remove all actions on the "Power" button (for each profile) and verify that it resolves the issue.

Regards,
Stéphane.

It's a firefly remote. I'm using this on a PC installed in my car, link: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index....12685&hl=carpc. However, I'm not using the power button on the remote to enter hibernation. Hibernation is the default option when the power button on the PC itself is pressed, which is accomplished by the power supply whenever the car is stopped or started.

Thanks,

Jarred

Can you try removing all actions for the "Power" button. This way when you'll wake up the Car PC, the "Power" button will have no actions at all and thus we can conclude that this is because my software is erroneously triggering a "Power" button press when the PC is waking up that it crash.

Also you may try another thing : shut down LM Remote KeyMap before putting the Car PC into hibernation. Then wake up you PC, and relaunch LM Remote KeyMap. Do you still have a .Net error then?

Regards,
Stéphane.

I've tried removing actions for the "power" button, and I still get the .Net error. Shutting down the LM application before hibernating does fix the problem. The only issue with that is my front-end application called "mediaengine" runs as the shell and there is no way to terminate the LM app through it without shutting down mediaengine as well.

I may have to remove LM and go back to snapstream until this is fixed, but it's no big deal. I do like LM and all it can do...

Ok, so I guess that the problem does reside in race condition when resuming the PC.

Well, I just asked to try this too see if the application was running ok, after the wake up. So this was not for resolving the issue. Maybe the "MediaEngine" shell is source of the problem. I take a quick look on "MediaEngine" and I do not saw that it is supposed to be a new shell... Do you really run it as a shell, that is you do not have a Windows desktop task bar / desktop at all?

As I cannot reproduce the issue, it will be difficult to isolate the source of the bug. I'm sure it's nothing serious, I just have to find it . I'll issue an updated version soon that will fix the "Power" button issue and I will try to check some possible error conditions, we will see then how to dig this deeper.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Mediaengine is not running as a shell, but it not not allow you to see the task bar/desktop, while running. The other thing is that I get the error message whether or not Mediaengine is running.

Ok, I've uploaded an updated version of LM Remote KeyMap (1.6), so you can try this one and see if it resolve the issue or not.

Also in this version there is a trace that is written in the application directory so if you are getting an error click on "Continue" and then try to close the application and check in the application directory if the trace.log does contain something.

And if you do not have any errors upon waking up your PC wait a little after the wake up, then close LM Remote KeyMap and check also of the trace.log does contain something.

Regards,
Stéphane.

It's more simple that you can think of : just type the spacebar in the keystroke field (so you'll have only a space in the field). And it should work. If this doesn't work, the next version of the software will let you use another way of sending keystrokes (but really this should work).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

What will hapen to the profiles that I have allready created when I upgrade to another version, must I creat new profiles again or are they saved somewhere? Is it possible to save copies of the profiles on another disc, in what folder are they stored now in that case?

When you uninstall the software it doesn't delete your settings, so you can always uninstall / upgrade / install again etc...

Quote:

You can backup all your settings by simply copying all files in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\LM Remote KeyMap folder (skins folder is optional)

Or you can use the "Upload" button when you edit one of your profiles, to upload your profiles in the online database, so as you can pick them up from this database (one stone, two birds : you get an offsite backup and you share your profile). Though, some actions are not saved when uploading a profile : that is all actions with some local properties (PlaySound / LaunchApplication)

Regards,
Stéphane.

FF MINI - defaul to mini profile - how to set up?

Hello,

great application. I just installed it and have some beginning questions:

1. are there any default to Mini profile that works as FireFlyMini? As "option", "menu", "guide" don't work with LM RKM in BTV.
2. what to assign to those "option", "menu", "guide" buttons to make it work in BTV? I see keystroke and no value for it.
3. how to set "close" button to work as CLOSE for single click and HIBERNATE for dbl click?

thanks.

No the default profile doesn't do anything for those buttons (that's why there is a blank keystroke action to be sure that nothing will happen when pressing thoses buttons)

You will first need to create a new profile (click on the "+" button) and choose "Beyond TV" as the profile name and "Beyond TV" as the window title (this way when Beyond TV is the active application LM RKM will select this Beyond TV profile). Then customize the "option", "menu", "guide" button by adding a keystroke action and typing respectively : "o" (without the quotes) for "option" button, "{HOME}" (without the quotes) for "menu" button, "e" or "{F7}" (without the quotes) for the "guide" button. Note : if you made a donation you'll be able to download a Beyond TV profile.

You have two choices :

* use "multipress" action : this will make the power key a "multitap" button (press once => close, press twice => hibernate. It will be better to customize the default profile, so first : add a "Shutdown" action right after the already existing "SendMessage" action (and choose "Hibernate"). Then add a "Multipress" action and type "Close,Hibernate" (without the quotes) in the "Key Names" field, this way the multipress action will display "Close" or "Hibernate" in the OSD when you press the "Power" button. Finally put the "Multipress" action before the "SendMessage" and "Shutdown" actions (select "Up" in the contextual menu of the "Mutlipress" action to move it up).
* use "displaymenu" action : this will make the power button act as a menu, press the button, the menu is displaying, select with arrow keys and press ok to select the action. This feature is only available for donators. To do this you have to build up your menu : add a "displaymenu" action, the add two menu entries below the "display" menu and finally add the "sendmessage" and "shutdown" actions under each menu entries.

Regards,
Stéphane.
