By default the Power button on the MCE Remote will put your PC into standby, you have then two choices :

* use the "Exclusive mode" you'll find by clicking on "Setup Remote" button. Then unplug / plug your MCE remote and restart LM RKM and Blaster service (or restart your PC)

* Disable in Windows Control Panel the "Standby when I press the Sleep" button (I think this is in Power Managment)

Note: "Exclusive mode" is now recommended, especially if you have another "Sleep" button (on keyboard etc...) that you may use and also if you have Windows Media Center that you may use.

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Interesting problem. I am using the standard edition, and Vista Media Center.
Was working through setting up the keystrokes last night, and they were working fine, but today, ran into a nasty problem.
The remote, using the lmgestion software, will not send keystroke commands. For example, the keystrokes for launching the music app, which is '^!m', which I put in the field. However, upon starting up VMC, it does not work. Send Message, launch application, and the like all work fine.

Weird. Have tried removing and re-installing lmgestion, and it did not work.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

The "Keystroke" action usually works fine for most applications, some applications (like Vista Media Center) doesn't like it, so you need to use "PressKey" or combination of "KeyDown" and "KeyUp" ("Keystroke" use the .Net API, whereas "PressKey" / "KeyUp" and "KeyDown" don't)

Stéphane.

Those are two different actions you can add to a button in LM RKM. "Keystroke" takes a string that is your keyboard shortcut as argument, whereas "PressKey" (or "KeyDow", KeyUp") you have to choose on keyboard key in a list.

"PressKey" is designed to only simulate one keyboard key press (that is key down, followed by key up), so use it for one key shortcuts.

"KeyUp" / "KeyDow" do only key up and key down respectively for one keyboard key, so if you want to create a keyboard shortcut involving multiple keys, you have to use more than one "KeyDown" + "KeyUp" combo.

For instance : Ctrl + C is

* KeyDown / Control
* KeyDown / M
* KeyUp / M
* KeyUp / Control

and you can insert "Pause" action between each "KeyDow" / "KeyUp" if needed (so basically you have a very fine level of keyboard key press simulation)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Hi,
Had a look through this thread but cannot find an answer. I am using Meedio as a front end to launch BTV but would like to be able to get rid of the exit menu in BTV and return to meedio using the firefly button leaving BTV in the background therefore removing the need to launch the BTV app each time. Has anyone managed to achieve this?

Cheers,
Jon.

My first guess would be to add a "FindWindow" action, then a "AppActivate" action to the Firefly button in the BTV profile to switch back to Meedio. You just have to find the right window title / class name of the Meedio window.

Or you can try to launch Meedio again, some application will regain focus if you attempt to launch them when they are already running.

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

I am looking to control Power DVD 7 and Microsoft media player 11 on my VISTA PC. I have BeyondTV4 (latest build) and the firefly RF remote. I was looking at girder and LM Remote keymap. LM Remote Keymap looks easier to use. Will it be as simple as adding a powerdvd 7 and MMP profiles to the LM Remote program and I can start using the firefly remote to conrol PowerDVD and MMP functions?

How much is the "donator" version, and when you do send a donation through paypal what happens next? Do you get a username and password through Email to download the donator version?

Also, is LM remote keymap recommended over girder for HTPCs?

Basically yes. The hard part is to find the right actions to add to each buttons for the application.

Donation is fixed to 15€, once you made your donation, you'll receive an e-mail with your account an download link (depending on how you made your donation it can take a few hours up to five business days until PayPal compensate your donation)

I'm not the best one to answer this question, though LM RKM and Girder are two differents solution :

* LM RKM : it's a straightforward button mapper utility. You have the remote layout and assign actions to buttons (mainly keystrokes) for applications. So it's very basic
* Girder : this is an automation product. It recognize events (like pressing on a remote button) and you assign actions to the events.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Does this allow me to get more functionality out of the Streamzap? I use a Streamzap to control BTV via a Harmony 880, and I don't have enough buttons to do all I want (like go to the main menu when buried in recording folders). At the very least, can I get one of the color buttons to launch the guide? I don't really use this PC for more than BTV viewing, so multiple profiles doesn't matter much.

Thanks,

Lary

Yes, you'll be able to customize every button on the Streamzap (not only the red/green/blue/yellow ones)

When you are missing buttons, you can very well make use the "DisplayMenu" action of LM RKM (this is a donator feature however). This display a menu (overlaid and transparent) that let you choose what actions to carry on.

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Just made a donation and downloaded the donator version yesterday. This is exactly what I have been looking for; a easy-to-use interface to map the keys on my FF remote. I like the fact that you can assign keystrokes to buttons on the remote, and can download ready made profiles from your site. I look forward to future revisions of this program. Keep up the good work!!! It was worth the donation....

This error means that the IR Blaster device has not recognized the command (command being: request to stop receiving on the learning port).

So I guess your Ehome device is not compatible with my software, especially if you see the learning window closing itself.

You should also review the svc_tracexxxxx log files as all blaster handling is done in the blaster services and these are the services log files.

You should also try to :

* Stop all Windows Media Center Services
* Try to aim your original remote differently (very close to the MCE receiver)
* Change the USB port the blaster is connected.

Regards,
Stéphane.
