Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Okay, the information in those fields is correct as far as I can tell. I have "Beyond TV" in Title and btv3dshell.exe for the executable name. Still nothing happens. I only have one other profile and that's the default.

Then review the logs (with the new 3.8 version it's easier to view the logs: there is a live trace viewer).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

I was just about to ask you where v3.8 was when I got the email.....

I fixed the problem, I had to use the Beyond TV Profile for Vista to make it work. I was doing everything right, I just had the wrong profile. DOH!

Now to try and get PowerDVD to work properly....

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Working on my own setup I created a few sort of helper
applications for LM KeyMap thought some other people could
make use of them as well so I wrote readme's and uploaded them
to my ISP's personal web page let me know what you think?

http://sat32blk.home.comcast.net/~sat32blk/ListGen.zip
ListGen a commandline based playlist generator can be used keep
a playlist automatically updated and launch a media player with one
command. Lots of options to it that I have not seen in any other
playlist generator.

http://sat32blk.home.comcast.net/~sat32blk/Status.zip
Status lets you give a Visual cue for toggle switchs in applications
weather there on or off using menus in LM Keymap.

http://sat32blk.home.comcast.net/~sat32blk/Select.zip
Select changes images for menu items using the commandline.

When after putting the computer in hibernate from within Meedio, and then turning the computer back on, and the meedio program is still running, I can't use the remote. I can use the mouse function but I have to shut down meedio and restart LM to get the remote to work on it's on and not in mouse mode. Is their something I might have set up wrong?

Is this with a Firefly RF Remote ?

Before hibernate, put LM RKM into verbose logging (using the taskbar notification icon), then hibernate and resume and take a look at the trace file.

If LM RKM mouse mode is working, then I suppose that LM RKM is still receiving remote button press, so this might be a focus problem or a profile selection problem.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Problem with {ESC} keystroke

Hello! I sent a copy of all of this to lmgestion@hotmail.com, but I wasn't sure if you still use that address so I'm posting here as well. I'm having a problem with the donation version of the LM Remote Keymap software (v3.8). Right now I am using a USB-UIRT (v1.4 Windows XP drivers) as a receiver. For the time being my Harmony 880 is emulating a Streamzap remote, but once I get this working I plan to teach the Harmony more IR codes so I can add more function buttons to the remote.

Anyway, here is the problem:

The remote works very well until I press the "Exit" button. I have the "Exit" button configured in LM Remote Keymap to send the "{ESC}" keystroke in all profiles. When I press the "Exit" button, I get an error box from LM Remote Keymap that says something about a problem with an "Undo operation" and the program needs to close. If I ignore the error message the remote will continue to work properly until I click "OK" in the error box. When I press the "Exit" button at my desktop I only get one error message, but when I'm using Beyond TV or Media Portal, the remote works fine until I quit to the desktop and there is a large stack of error boxes waiting for me. Like I said, the remote continues to work fine until I click "OK" in the error box. After I click "OK" in the error box LM Remote Keymap closes. If I try to re-open LM Remote Keymap it won't respond to commands from the USB-UIRT again until I reboot the system. Also, it seems that when this happens LM Remote Keymap uses an excessive amount of CPU cycles until I click "OK" in the error box.

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 with all updates, including updates to the .NET Framework. I have tried downgrading to the 3.7 version of the software and I'm having the same problem. I have also added LMRemoteKeymap.exe to my list of Windows firewall exceptions.

I attached a .zip file to the email I sent including all of my configuration and trace files. I enabled verbose trace on the trace file from today. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I got the log file after I had gone into hibernate mode and then booted the computer back up. Would you like me to post the file here or send it to you in an email?

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

I have a non-BTV question, but I thought I would post it here instead of via a private email in case it may be helpful to others. I have the donor version of your software and use it with the Firefly Mini remote.

I was previously using the Default Profile to adequately control the JRiver Media Center software. When using the Default with JRiver, the Close/Power button closed the program (and did so in a few other programs that used the Default Profile). However, I wanted to set the Default's Close/Power button to put my computer in Suspend mode -- which I did by changing the command for that button. In turn, I set up a JRiver profile. Unfortunately, I forgot to note what command was previously used by Default to Close such programs. Can you please give some guidance? (PS - I was a little surpised that nobody had uploaded a Profile for JRiver Media Center, since it is fairly popular -- same with Foobar!)

One more help request. My USB wireless keyboard can successfully wake my Vista Home premium system from Suspend mode by pressing the enter key. Is this possible with LM Remote using the Firefly Mini?

Thanks again for the useful software!

Scott

You add a "SendMessage" action with:
Message = 16
wParam = 0
lParam = 0

LM RKM cannot do anything to wake up your PC. Only the hardware can.

The FF Mini may be able to wake up your PC (as it is after all a mini keyboard), you can try to put the mini on the USB port your keyboard is connected to, then set up your bios so that any key press can wake up your PC (usually it is the space bar or enter).

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

This is really a Streamzap issue rather than LM but I'm assuming others are using Streamzap, so hoping there might be some info on this here. LM + Streamzap works great for awhile...but then...after some uncorrelated period of time, my remote becomes unresponsive. When I check windows task manager the Streamzap service, zremote.exe, is at about 30% CPU usage and the only way to restore any response is to reboot the computer. Even shutting down the service and restarting Streamzap doesn't help. I've installed the recent Streamzap software update and all the .NET updates with no joy. Anyone else run into this and found a fix?

Mine quits working too. I have not checked the % of CPU though. Usually, I just unplug and plug back the Streamzap and it fix the issue (once in five years my computer give me a BSOD when pluggin it back => so it is a driver and/or hardware issue).

You can also try to not allow the PC to put the device to sleep (do this for each USB root hub). But I guess this will not fix the issue... (it doesn't for me). Eventually try all the USB ports on your PC.

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Just wanted to say a quick thanks to Stephane for a great piece of software. I sent through a donation yesterday and got the full version in a few hours.

Steve.

Thanks Stéphane. Good to know it's just not me. May have to consider going with a hopefully, more reliable MC remote instead since this puts a crimp in the use of our htpc by the rest of the family.
