If you use a "Keystroke" action in your profile, replace it with a "PressKey" action and it should work (do it for instance for the "Back" or "Exit" button).

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

First, let me say "Thanks!" for a great tool!

I mostly use my StreamZap remote with BeyondTV & BeyondMedia (DVD Library plug), and it works, pretty much, perfectly straight out of the box. However, one of the main annoyances that I've come across is, when using BeyondMedia for video playback, I can't Skip Forward or Back... and, as an avid Tivo & BeyondTV fan, this is something I love. Heck, I even have the ability on my Sony 400 count DVD player. <grin>

Anyway, this wonderful little tool has now given me the ability to properly use my Skip Forward & Back Buttons, the way God intended. Thank you! Thank you!!

However, I've run into a little bit of a snag. It seems that, with LM Remote Keymap loaded, whenever I attempt to view an AVI file from within BeyondMedia, the system just hangs for 2 minutes before finally starting the video. This only occurs on AVI files (divx, mp4), while mpg & wmv files play fine.

When it happens, there doesn't appear to be an increase in cpu utilization, but the system just sits there doing nothing.

Again, this is ONLY when Keymap is running, and happened with the default profile, and continued after I added my Beyond Media profile. It does not happen inside of BeyondTV, even though the files are in AVI format as well. I also tested and, yes, it occurs even if I'm attempting to launch an AVI file created by BeyondTV, so I don't see format as the problem.

As much as I love having my skip functionality, this definitely puts a damper on my ability to utilize this great tool.

Any thoughts on the possible causes of this? I'll be happy to assist in any way I can.

Thanks again!

Well, I'll be...

Okay, after fighting with this thing, and writing that long message above, I noticed that, in another message on a completely different subject, you had suggested replacing a keystroke with a presskey.

Hmmm....

So, I changed the setting for OK in my Beyond Media profile from a keypress of {ENTER} to a presskey of Return, and VOILA... did the trick!

Awesome.

Not sure why it worked, but it did.

Now I'm gonna experiment and see what else I can do with this thing!

I tried to reproduce it, but can't get Beyond Media running at all :-(. As I still have it installed on my HTPC (using a Streamzap) I will check tomorrow if it does the same thing.

I guess the "Keystroke" action is defintely a bad way to issue keyboard shortcuts even though it is pure .Net ("PressKey" / "KeyUp" and "KeyDown" are platform calls... go figure)

If all is working with "Presskey" and "KeyUp" / "KeyDown" then use those actions instead of "Keystroke".

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

I just uploaded a winamp profile.
I can't imagine why there wasn't one already available though.
I set it up for milkdrop.
The maximize button opens visualization and the enter key changes the vis.

Question: How do I set up LM to open a specific folder?

Because it's a user database, so I guess nobody used Winamp with one of the supported remote or needed to create a profile. Your Winamp profile is the only profile for Winamp in the DB.

You mean open a folder in Winamp, could you be more specific?

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

I just want to open a folder in windows explorer...
"G:\Video" or "C:\Music" to be specific.
I figure I could then use the remote to navigate to and select the file I want to play. Then it would automatically be opened by the default player IE: WMP for vids, and Winamp for MP3s.

Then, if it's not too much to ask, I would like to program a button to simulate the function of right clicking on a folder (album) and selecting the "play in Winamp" option. Thus playing a whole album at a time instead of just one song.

Do you think I am over complicating things?
Is there an easier way to go about it?

You can use a "LaunchApplication" action. Then choosing :

* C:\Windows\explorer.exe as the application
* /e, "C:\Your Folder Path" as the arguments

And this will open Windows Explorer in the designated folder. You will then have to tweak the default profile or use a specific profile for explorer.exe to at least have a button for "TAB" keyboard shortuct. Also you will use the "Exit" button on the remote to issue a mouse right click by using the "Mouse" action (then you can select a menu entry in a contextual menu with the arrow keys and the "Ok" button)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Reduced memory footprint, forcing a profile for not requiring an application to have the focus (automatically bringing application into focus if required), OSD, multi press...

Stéphane.

Since I did a complete reload of my Link machine -- I seem to have lost Volume control... Goes Up fine -- but cannot lower:

using the "Beyond TV" Profile -- listed as "same as the one with BMB" I think is what the description went...

This is a typo error, SUBSTRACT is really not valid, it should be SUBTRACT instead. If you replace this keyword for the "Keystroke" action of the Volume Down button all will be fine.

I will fix it in the DB.

Stéphane.

Re: New Firefly Sofware (works also for Streamzap)

Without having read the entire 14 pages of this thread (but skimming over a fair amount of them) I have a single question in mind.

Does this program support mapping IR Codes to any key so that it will send them out through the USBUIRT that I have? I, like many others, am dying to be able to turn my TV on and off with the firefly remote. In beyondTV 4.6 (which I have) i can accomplish this by mapping the proper IR Code to any given channel button in my "Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000.rmt" file...but ...i WOULD like to be able to change channels

Infact in 14 pages...I'd have to guess this question was asked at least 3 times, make mine the 4th
and no I wouldn't like to pay for girder
