Re: WiMP 11 profile

I placed that file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Profiles\ as directed, and it does indeed allow the FireFly remote to work WiMP 11 directly.
Unfortunately, when BeyondMedia Basic is launched to view a video file, it still exhibits the same problems which others have pointed out (e.g. MUTE is volume down, both volume down and volume up are volume up, nothing is pause...).
What do we do to inform BeyondMedia Basic that WiMP 11 has been loaded, and to apply the same key codes as this WMP-Microsoft-11.xml file does for WiMP 11 when WiMP 11 is run directly?
Thanks!
-Jay

Here's a profile that works for me with Beyond Video Basic and WMP 11.
Download HERE
Just download, extract and drop the contents in your profiles folder. It "shouldn't" overwrite any of your existing profiles as I named it somewhat unqiuely.

Cheers.

W3bMa5t3r, thank you. Your WiMP 11 profile works well for me.

Re: Post your new profiles to this thread that you want to share/add to Firefly

Hi....does anyone have profile for Power DVD 7.3 Ultra ? I tried to get mine to work...read the tutorial, etc. But can't seem to get the Play, Pause, Skip, Menu buttons to work. I also used the app identified program to get the correct info, still no luck. Thanks in advance....

Any more luck on this? I'm thinking of getting the LG HD DVD/Blu Ray combo drive and Power DVD 7.3, but I want to make sure I can control it with the Firefly.

Re: Post your new profiles to this thread that you want to share/add to Firefly

Haven't received a reply....FYI I have the LG drive and it works great. As for the remote...the buttons that work consistently on HDDVD and BluRay disks are the play pause buttons, the maximize button and the directional buttons for moving through the menus. for greater control, I have the mouse close at hand...mouse mode control doesn't work. It's a doable setup, but not ideal. I use TheaterTek for regular DVD's and the Firefly works well with that.

Does PowerDVD 7.3 have keyboard shortcuts for things like menu access, skipping chapters and such?

If you know the keyboard shortcuts, modifying the appropriate XML file isn't terribly hard. I tweaked my Zoomplayer.xml file a bit to get Firefly to work the way that I wanted for it.

Re: Post your new profiles to this thread that you want to share/add to Firefly

I bought PowerDVD Ultra and tried it out on my system and also had no luck.

It seems that the Firefly software doesn't recognize the application, so it is using the Global profile, instead of a specific profile. They do have a profile for PowerDVD 4, and I checked its settings, which seem to be correct for PowerDVD 7.3. Unfortunately, Firefly isn't using this profile.

I'm not entirely certain how Firefly detects applications, so it can use the appropriate profile. If we can figure that part out, we can get this working.

Ok, I figured it out. There is an application called AppIdentifier in the Firefly program directory. You can use that to find out information about running programs, which you can then dump into the XML file.

Here is the top portion of my modified "PowerDVD-CyberLink-4.0.xml" file. I don't have the complete profile tweaked, yet, but this is enough to get started:

Quote:
<Profile Type="SnapStream.Firefly.Core.Profile" Name="PowerDVD" ShowOSD="False">
<Identifier ClassName="ATL:004BD688" WindowText="CyberLink PowerDVD" FileName="C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PowerDVD.exe"/>

you beat me to suggesting the app identifier program-- I used it but it only went so far....I would be interested in seeing how you deal with the xml commands. I tried but the parts i edited/changed didn't seem to work. i'm sure i messed up somewhere..good luck and let me know how you do

I'm just using the default commands that were in "PowerDVD-CyberLink-4.0.xml" and they work, fine. (I've only tested DVD playback, since I don't have an HD DVD or Blu Ray drive. I noticed under Configuration - HD DVD, that they have an option to "use HD DVD Hotkeys", but when I looked at the help topic for these, they are un-interesting features, to me.)

I need to add a few custom commands, like one to turn off subtitles (PowerDVD turns on subtitles every bloody time, whether you want it to or not.)

****your success has inspired me to give it another go--I'll use your top two lines, using my app identifier number, and see how it works--then will try to customize again...i don't have the subtitle problem...but powerdvd is such a mess that the list of problems, both common and unique, seem endless

These work great. Thanks! These configs shuld be the standard configs. I was disappointed to hook up my brand new FF today and find out that the default MPC config was all screwed up, assigning stop to mute, etc.
