DOH!

Just brought a ATI Remote Wonder a few weeks ago. I like the look of this one much better. Oh well. You can never have too many.

And again a remote without the "Red, Green, Yellow and Blue" buttons that are often used in Europe.
The StreamZap had them.. but didn't have as many other features.

Other universal remote companies are starting to create "International" versions of their remotes - to add these buttons. Example - the Kameleon (One for All) remotes...
Even if it's a RF only remote, I would have mapped a "Red" button in Girder to send the IR code for the "Red" button to the satellite box.

It does look like the ideal PC remote, especially with those dedicated buttons (DVD, photo, TV, etc). It's no good for me without IR learning facilities though.

Number one thing I care about: PRICE.

Any word on how much it costs yet?

Any chance this will be packaged with the software or pvr-250 or both? I'm using the trial version of btv3 right now now, but I'm waiting to see if this remote will be bundled.

Thanks,
wd

Ooops. Should have looked first! Thanks, LD.

Personally, I am much more excited about Beyond Media than Firefly.

Is shipping to Europe going to be the "universal" US$ 50 ?

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I was going to some software to interface to a windows LIRC project, but now I can't wait for this to be ready!

to folks that haven't had their questions answered about Firefly, we're assembling a pre-release FAQ so keep your questions coming and look for answers some time in the next 1-2 weeks, though probably sooner.

Sounds great! I'm about to dive in and buy the software, but the main questions I have are:

1) Will this remote possilby be packaged with the software or in a kit?

2) What is the range of it.

3) Release date?

Thanks,
wd

If it has no IR capability, then it is basicly just a competitor to the ATI Remote Wonder. Too bad, since IR capability would invariably allow integration of control into a kick butt Universal Remote like the Home Theater Master MX-700 to MX-800 or the Harmony SST-659. I have researched these recently, and am drooling over the WAF and ease of set-up and use of these to finally see remote technology that WILL TRULY replace all of my other remotes......including the PC remote. No need to learn Girder....yeah!!! So, unless there is IR capability......OR, an equivalent IR control code set that can be defined for upload to Harmony's web site, etc. so those that buy these things can integrate a PC PVR control into their Universal remote, I won't buy....

TRUST ME.........integration of the PC IR remote into something like the Harmony SST-659 is the last step to getting the WAF......

With all that said, I presume this remote will help a big limitation SS suffers vs. ATI, as the Hauppauge remote is usable, but not terrific.

What is the best IR remote available for control of the Hauppauge cards via BTV? Is it indeed the silver and black Hauppauge?
