Beyond media Basic and Vista

Is there an alternative to BMB that actually works? I am completely fed up with it, I have *never*, in over 18 years of working in the I.T. arena, come across a commercially released product that is less stable. Press any button when trying to watch a video file and it "encounters a problem and has to close", pause, rewind, dare to touch the volume, anything and bang, crashes out. I am back to using VNC to control WMP directly, at least that works.

Hmm. While I sympathize will those who have problems with BM, I have to report that I still use it today on 3 HTPCs without incident...

With that said, others have tried Media Portal and even Windows MCE instead.
