Unhappy BeyondTV 4.9 and HVR-2250 MCE Remote

I have an HVR-2250 tuner card. The tuner functionality in BTV 4.9 work fine. But I am unable to use the supplied remote. During the BTV setup, I specified an 'MCE remote' My system recognizes an IR ontrol device is plgged in. And the led lights up on the remote when buttons are pushed.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit (pretend I'm using Vista) and BTV is installed as a x86 app (32bit). Newest Hauppauge drivers downloaded and installed and, everything else in BTV and the HVR-2250 card are functioning a-ok.

Can somebody help me get the remote working? The IR receiver came with the card and terminates in a mini-plug which goes into the card. The remote is the 'MCE compatible remote' also supplied with the card.

sounds like you might be using the IR Blaster and not the MCE receiver.

take a look at this picture, the black box in the middle on the bottom is the MCE receiver, it should plug via USB to your computer.

Per Hauppauge tech support, the hardware onfiguration shown in the photo has been replaced by a combo cable which contains two heads; one is the blaster emitter, the other the IR receiver for the remote controller and the controlling circuitry is now onboard the card. The cable terminates in a single mini-plug which goes into the capture card. If only it came with a usb receiver then this would be so much simpler, but they've changed to this new design and its intended to work as supplied.

Anybody have experience with this configuration?

thats interesting as what your talking about sounds like the IR blaster/receiver for the original hauppauge remotes.

You won't be able to get it to work with the new blaster. After 2 months of emails and complaints I got them to send me the USB connector. Now everything works great. Check you receipt and see if it states USB receiver, if so make them give it to you. I bought mine on buy.com and luckly I had printed the discreption of the product showing USB.

You may have already looked at this, but the haupauge install advises that you need to run a utility to make the remote 'configure' for Media Center. Otherwise, it is configured for WinTV7. I don't have the name of the util just now, but an exploration of the install CD mught be fruitful.
