Question add the external antenna to increase the range to more than 50 ft. NEED HELP!!!

I need anyone’s help on how to modify the firefly receiver to add the external antenna to increase the range to more than 50 ft. I have followed the other posts on how to modify the receiver, but my model’s printed circuit board is significantly different than the ones posted.
Here are the other posts aready out there (http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=15244&highlight=firefly+increasin g+range+250ft) & (http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=15904&highlight=range)

I followed the other steps from the other posts, but I’m not sure where to attach the ground antenna wire too. I put it on the board were the arrow points too on the picture below, but it doesn’t help the range issue. Anyone with any ideas?

You should connect the GND to the closest point to the antenna life point. I would suggest to solder a piece of coax cable with an SMA connector at the end, try with RG174 or RG178 coax cable and an SMA connector female bulkhead and make the adaption into the case of the device.
The easiest antenna you can connect is a quarter wave like this one:

You can make something similar yourself with a piece of cable attached to a SMA male connector, with a length of aprox 160mm. But the problem with this antenna is that it needs a large ground plane to have a good performance/range.
The best antenna would be something like this one at 433MHz:

I think you should be able to buy that antenna with an SMA from that website but it would be a bit too big to attach to the firefly, will measure about 350mm overall.
