BTV Media Edit
BTV Media Edit automates the downloading of media information from http://thetvdb.com and http://themoviedb.org for media folders indexed by Beyond TV. Show information is parsed from the file name (supported season/episode/date formats are S01E01, 1x01, 2001.01.13, 01.13.2001). The information is downloaded and inserted into the BTV database.
Project is hosted on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/btv-media-edit/ Latest version: http://btv-media-edit.googlecode.com...t_v1_0_1_4.msi Last edited by fox004; 09-27-2009 at 07:57 PM. |

Re: BTV Media Edit
Very Interesting. Couple of questions. Are you pulling the original air date too? It didn't seem like it. This would make sorting easier since BTV typically sorts by date. Maybe this is why you put the season info in the episode title? I personally don't like that and my plugin puts that info in the description. Also, I had a problem when I was scanning my whole library (100s of shows) and unchecked the "Only Edit Unknown Series". It was taking over 10 minutes and still nothing so I hit cancel and its just sitting here (another 10 minutes). Any reason for that?
I found a problem with finding unknown shows. Sometimes CSI New York is posted as CSI.New.York.S01E01.HDTV.XviD.avi. If you try searching that you get a -1 SeriesID. Then I do a manual search. I'm assuming this is what you want people to do? Then I found a pleasant surprise that subsequent CSI.New.York.. shows were searched correctly. Do you have some sort of history of what shows that aren't found automatically are used as? Is there a way to may your system tray icon alert or have like a "new mail feature" when a new show or shows are found when using the scheduler? That would be splendid! I noticed that the Scheduler doesn't show things in the Series Map. It just automatically adds them and updated. Iif the Scheduler doesn't find a match, does it put in the series map, requiring user input? Otherwise, great work since we need a simple automated alternative to BTVShowInfo.

Re: BTV Media Edit
Dates seem to be working to me. Dates are correct but the time is always 4am. Not sure how you would figure out the time because tvdb doesnt have that info.
This thing is sweet, been waiting for something like this. |

Re: BTV Media Edit
Yeah, it's a nice evolution from the BTVShowInfo and my plugin. Good Work!

Re: BTV Media Edit

The original air date should be included. As bjgeiser noticed, the start time is set to 4:00 a.m. at the moment. I can change that to something else if there is a need for it, but currently have no way of determining the actual start time. I moved the series/episode information to the description - I think I actually like this much better anyway! When you were scanning with "Only Edit Unknown Series" unchecked, did you notice anything happening in the status bar? It should be displaying what it is currently doing. There is also a log file in the installation folder (I can take a look at your log if you are having some issues). Some shows can't be found based on the name parsed from the file so it has to be searched for manually. I used to use a "-1" series ID to indicate "unknown", but I changed this to say "Unknown" in the latest release. It sounds like there may be some confusion regarding the Series Map. The Series Map just maps the names parsed from the file name to a Series ID (which is how the series is found in thetvdb.com's database). The Series Name parameter is what gets inserted into the BTV database so there can be consistency if file names have different formats. The Overview field is just there so you can verify you have selected the correct show. The application now uses different icons. The tray icon turns a reddish color when there are unknown series found in the Series Map. I didn't completely understand this: "I noticed that the Scheduler doesn't show things in the Series Map. It just automatically adds them and updated. Iif the Scheduler doesn't find a match, does it put in the series map, requiring user input?" -- Could you elaborate? Re: BTV Media Edit
Great job with the movie editor! This effectively replaces BTVShowInfo and my plugins. I will definitely be using this all the time.
One thing I notice is that with some movies (haven't checked TV shows) is that the description can sometimes be so long that it blocks the Actors. You will get a ... where the actors should be. Check out Monsters vs. Aliens for a reference.

Re: BTV Media Edit
I also noticed that when I try to scan a large library (100+), it just says Starting Scan... for a long time with no results. For instance, I have over 100 movies and tried to scan with Only Edit Unknown Movies unchecked and it wouldn't return with results. It just scanned forever.
