Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

Well I think I have the hang of the RSS stuff and I am getting info out, now the only issue is what to do with it.

Should I publish one link for each section like:
-Today's Recordings
-Upcoming Recordings
-Blocked Recordings

With all the listings within the description section. Or should I list each show with details and preface each one with where it goes like:
New Recording - Burn Notice
New Recording - Monk
Upcoming Recording - Doctor Who

With the details including stuff like the date/time and show info? I am leaning towards the second option but since I really don't plan to use this I am more interested in what you guys think.

This one would work, if you can put the whole description in there.

Can you provide the ability to consolidate this information across multiple servers ?

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

Almost done with the looks of the gadget. All that I have to do now I guess is make some spiffy looking graphics and then I'll have to wait for the RSS feed to complete the JavaScript.

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

Here is what I've got so far.

Eventually there will be fly out pages when you click on any given item, but I'll implement that a little later.

I still have to make a shiny background image for it though.

What do you think?

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

I really like the progress so far. If you need a Vista Beta Tester let me know. I assume that this will work remotely on a Vista machine to a BTV Server.

Thanks
Mike

It should. Too bad it is just dummy information until I get the RSS feed file to finish the JavaScript to read in the live information.

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

Is there anyone out there that can make up some slick looking graphic images to match perfectly with BTV?

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

Well this is a working version that just displays the recordings info, no show squeeze or free space yet.

Unfortunately this is based on the public beta 2 not the latest beta and not 4.6. The feed comes from RSSToday.aspx.

Updated with the latest release.

Re: Windows Vista Gadget Developement!!!

A little slow on this item but how do I load this in? I can only search the Internet it won't let me search a drive on my PC.

Thanks
Mike

Are those updates going into the next beta release? I'm working on another tool to display off the RSS feed, just wanted to make sure I didn't have to reinstall this version of the admin.

Thanks btw.

I have no control over what goes in or not to the release. However this late in the game the odds are slim it will make it. However I highly recommend the community web admin if you make use of the web admin the stuff like the menus and streaming are hard to live without once you have gotten used to them.
