Skype Caller ID - SnapStream Independent Release
I initially developed a Skype Caller ID plugin for Beyond Media but recently realized it wasn't necessary to run Beyond Media for this to work. So I created a standalone package that communicates with Skype and overlays a menu on the screen whenever an incoming call is occuring. The popup lasts for a few seconds and then disappears. It will overlay over all windows including BTV.
You need to have Skype 3.x installed and you have to register the Skype4COM.dll file in the directory. The program will start Skype if it isn't running. It hides in the task bar. It runs in Silent Mode so Skype will not pop up and take away focus. It will ask you to confirm the app wants to control Skype and Silent Mode. You can disable the sounds and alerts if you want in Skype so only the caller ID overlay shows when a call comes in. ![]() ![]() Let me know if there are any requests/bugs/etc. DOWNLOAD HERE: SkypeCallerID.zip

Re: Skype Caller ID - SnapStream Independent Release
Considering that Skype is a voip service. Would this work with Vonage?
or is this like the other caller id stuff where you need a phone line running to a modem on the computer. .... OK. just downloaded it and looked in your batch files. Your registering a dll so I'm guessing that its talking to Skype only. Would it be possible to include Vonage or would that be a complete rewrite? Not likely you have access to both services for testing so I'm thinking its not going to happen, but I thought I'd ask.

Re: Skype Caller ID - SnapStream Independent Release
This requires the Skype program running on the HTPC or other PC. It directly communicates with the Skype API so it will only work with Skype.

Re: Skype Caller ID - SnapStream Independent Release
Haven't looked at this for a while. Can you check your BM log to see what error occurred?

Re: Skype Caller ID - SnapStream Independent Release
Hello, I'm writing an article on the business benefits of VoIP (also referred to as "IP telephony") and I'd like some hard numbers regarding how many U.S. companies are using it and/or how many U.S. businesses are expected to convert to a VoIP system in the near future. Can anyone point me to any statistics about how many U.S. businesses are currently using VoIP? Thank you in advance.
