This can be used to automatically download any format of podcast but it will only add information to file formation that Beyond TV supports

Examples of other podcathers are Democracy Player http://www.getdemocracy.com/ or itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/

For more detailed description please see the BTV Podcatcher Mannual.doc included in the zip file

Re: BTV Podcatcher beta release

I tried this this evening with two podcasts. When I tried to add the second feed, it was confused and thought it couldn't find my video directory so I closed that window, re-opened the window and it worked. Another issue I have is with the podcasts that download to divx. Is there any way other than manually renaming the file that the program could change the divx extension to avi?

Other than that, this is a REALLY nice addition. I was able to watch two podcasts (had to manually rename the divx extention to avi) from the BTV interface. I think it is a very nice addition to BTV. Thanks for your work on this!
Brent

EDIT:
Question: Do I need to keep this program open for it to download new feeds automatically? I'm assuming yes, but wanted to be sure. Thanks

I tried the new version out and it works well.

There is one podcast that I downloaded that was in MP4 format and I'm not sure it can be viewed by BTV. Other than that, everything works great. I think this will be a popular BTV add-on. Good work!

Thanks for testing the program.

MP4 is not currently supported in BTV but my my plugin will go ahead and download any file format,
Another format that is not currently supported to play with BTV that many video podcast broadcast in is MOV.

I have test different feeds that use these formats and I was able to download the files with not problems

Yes, the downloads worked fine with your plugin. I should have more specifically said that BTV wouldn't play them (MP4 and mov) - not your fault of course. All the others I tested worked perfectly.

I guess you could even use this plugin with Beyond Media and have it download to a video folder there also.

I really like this plugin.

BTV does not oficially support MP4, but if you have the proper codecs installed and WMP will play it, you can tell BM that it can play them. This thread talks about adding MP4 to BM. I think I got BTV to play it the same way.

You also need to assign that file type to BM/BTV.

Yes to have it automatically download new files. You can minimize the program which will put the application in an icon next to the clock with xp or higher you can then hide that icon from the customize notification from the taskbar settings.

Sorry for the late response I just realized you added the question for the first time today

Re: BTV Podcatcher beta release

First open up the program click on feed viewer in the menu bar
then select the feed from the drop down box then
click on the button to refresh feed.

then click on the DownloadFile in the menu bar are any files currently downloading do any downloads have an error.

If you do not see any downloads start a manual download in the feed viewer

If it download the file successfully see if you can find the file in windows explore in the location where the feed is going to download to.

Also check to see in the feed setup you have automatic download selected to yes

also what Feeds are you using. I will look to see if that feed has a GUID issue (which is how I determine which episodes are new episodes)

Re: BTV Podcatcher beta release

I currently subscribe to both of those feeds and am able to download past entries. Are you getting any messages in the downloadfile form when you download past file look on that data grid under the messages column or is it not showing up in that form after you click on download enclosure in the feed viewer?
