WebTV Style Web Browser?

I would love to surf the web with my remote using a similar style to WebTV. If anybody has ever seen WebTV you know it allows you to click hyperlinks by highlighting them with a yellow square around them. Using the mouse is so 20th century

webtv browser keys:

Tab - jumps to next link on page - works in IE also.
Arrow keys - jumps around links, much like a DVD interface - doesn't work in IE or FF?
Scroll up/down - Page up/down works in both IE & FF.
cmd+Scroll up/down - Home and End keys on PC keyboard.
back - your backspace key should work here.

So if you can map those keys to your remote... halfway where you want to be? Almost all the webtv keyboard shortcuts translated into the winPC world back when I switched... except for the fn key which afaik never did anything but take up space on my webbie keyboard. At one time you could get the webtv browser for your PC but the developer.webtv.net site is long gone so I would imagine the pc version of the browser is too.

I've had a webtv plus for years and years. I still use it for the TV listings and setting it so that it changes the channels to my regular shows without me having to lift a finger. The one thing I'm looking for in PVR software that I haven't found yet is being able to have the current channel displayed while browsing listings. I just think that's really nice and I'll miss it when I eventually ditch the old box. I was actually looking around here hoping to find that there's a plugin or something that would do this in BTV

Yeah, your tips are right....its just kind of cumbersome tabbing around and the links dont light up in IE like they do in WebTV. As far as the tiny picture inside the program guide you are absolutely right. I love that feature! Although Beyond TV and Sage TV don't have that, I think that MYTH TV actually does if you feel like screwing around with open source software.
