Not much to answer, .net framework 2.0 is backward compatible so there is no reason why you can't use SDK/libraries developed for 1.1... The only thing is that since BTV itself only requires .net 1.1, if you plan on releasing your application, not everyone will have .net 2.0 installed...

Re: BeyondMedia SDK Documents

Here's my attempt at an answer..

Since BM (and BTV, but that doesn't matter, yet) is built against .NET 1.1, I am pretty sure that plugins would have to be built against 1.1 as well.

I did find this at Channel9..

Re: BeyondMedia SDK Documents

Is there an source code example of using a Beyond Media event? I guess I should be more specific... Let's say (for the sake of argument) when I highlight or select a menu item, that I want to get the name of that item into an external program. How would I do that? I'm looking at doing something similar to the MiniDisplay / LCD Smartie plugin. The tutorials I've seen are all about getting things INTO Beyond Media. I'm more interested (for the moment) in getting things out.

The below link will point you to the first revision of the BeyondMedia SDK. It contains the initial documents / help files neccessary for creating plugins and skins within BeyondMedia. The installer also includes a packager for automating the process of creating .bmplugin and .bmskin files!
That link no longer works. I would love to try creating a plugin for BM if anyone can point me somewhere to begin.

Thanks much

Re: BeyondMedia SDK Documents

Am writting a tuner status program and notice that for Active Recordings you get lots of usefull info, mainly tuner, channel and a copy of the relative guide information. For a live session you only get tuner, channel (CurrentChannel) and no guide info. You could take this info and look in the quide and provide the guide info yourself, but there appears to be a bug in the live information, in that if you change channels, the 'CurrentChannel' property doesn't change, it continues to reflect the origical channel. Wondering is this a bug or by design? Also is there any way to get any information on recordings being streamed, if is, then could get fairly complete status on what the BTV server is doing.

Alternatively, you could look into the Upcoming or even Forced recording list to get that information...

CurrentChannel not updating is a bug and will be corrected in a future version.

Very much appreciate the reply, while this would get the job done seems like would be good to have same sort of info in the Live Session data as the Current Recordings, mainly thinking of the program guide info if available. But in any case just getting the correct channel number would be great.

Re: BeyondMedia SDK Documents

How do you get the SDK? When I go to the link it asks me to sign up and then I guess they are supposed to tell me if I'm "approved" for the SDK. I did all that but didn't get anything.

Am I doing this correctly or is there an easier way?

Thanks,
Bryan

Re: BeyondMedia SDK Documents

I've got the same problem. I've signed up twice for the SDK and have not received any email.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'd say whatever the issue was, it's been fixed. I just submitted my Partner registration for the BeyondTV SDK and within about five minutes I received an email that included the SDK download link:
Thank you for your interest in the Beyond TV SDK. Begin taking advantage of what Beyond TV has to offer by downloading the SDK from the following location: [snip'd]
(Sorry, I didn't include the direct link because I want to respect Snapstream's desire to develop a relationship with all SDK users. Sign up - it's darned easy!)
