I have version 2.0.0.2 and Windows Vista. If it's working in Firefox for others I'll see if I can figure out why it's not working in mine.

Thanks for the response Rakesh. It's nice to know you're hearing what we say here.

Re: Welcome to the Couchville forums

It didn't work in Firefox 1.5 for me either, at first. I had to allow scripting for couchville & google-analytics along with cookies to get it to allow setup.

Absolutely not. Yes, we'll eventually integrate Couchville with Beyond TV and hopefully also with other DVRs, but our initial goal was to focus on a simple TV listings website, and we've hopefully accomplished that.

From a business standpoint, Couchville is largely an experiment. Will it generate a lot of advertising revenue? It's not clear whether it will or not at this point. More and more dollars are pouring into online advertising, so that's a good sign, but it's not clear whether that translates to a TV guide website like Couchville bringing in a lot of ad revenue. Also, you'll notice ads for Beyond TV in some places on the site. There's also some potential for a mass consumer product like Couchville being a sales vehicle for our PC DVR product. So marketing Beyond TV is another important business angle for Couchville as well, at least in the short-term.

Sweet zombie Jesus!! What an absolutely PATHETIC excuse!!

Rakesh, where is the white whale called INTEGRATION that SS promised YEARS AGO?!?!

Who the hell cares about yet another useless online guide? But wait......there's those magic key words associated with it....."ad revenue".

How can you justify calling the DVD Burner app a Plug-In when it's anything but?! It's built into the base code......that is NOT a plug-in!

There are so many unanswered questions which you need to step up and provide. Until then, you're nothing more than just another pathetic dot com business trying to survive!

I can't wait for Media Portal work the bugs out of their new TV Engine!!!

Ok Khris, this is just being rather silly.

I love the irony that your new choice is an application that you're still waiting for bugs to be fixed in.

Deal with it! :P

It's more principle than anything else at this point. SS has to be held accountable for the promises they've made. If you aren't willing to do so, that's your decision. I for one want some answers!!

Re: Welcome to the Couchville forums

The best I can figure, SS can do whatever they want during the 4.x lifecycle, however, they cannot upgrade to 5.x without integration because of the explicit promise that owners of 4.x and bm would get a free upgrade to the next version. Now, they could make a 5.x version without integration, but they couldn't charge an upgrade (at least for 4.x and bm owners) and they'll still need to eventually offer an integrated product.

I think Rakesh regrets putting anything in writing and as a result SS will not commit to anything else regarding integration. However, I am fully in favor of them going after ad revenue since it keeps them in business and keeps the products supported. I will not tolerate and sharing of my personal data, nor direct ads on btv or spam to my email, but they can do whatever they want online.

Remember, they are facing a complete change in business as cable/satellite go hd
and since almost all channels will be encrypted they will be stuck with just ota channels or sd quality downgrades. Media companies are trying to push restrictions through technology, and m$ is trying to lock in the cablecard market. THen you have online downloads which don't need btv or coucheville (thus making BM more important!!!

Frustration can be expressed without being rude. If we really want Rakesh to continue to communicate on the forums, respect is in order imho.

I do appreciate (and actually pay attention to!) those of you that present your comments in a reasonable manner... which is most of you.

Re: Welcome to the Couchville forums

Frustration is understandable. I don't think integration has happened fast enough, but that didn't stop me from buying $220 worth of licenses and remotes a couple of weeks ago. Even if development stopped today, BTV and BM are good products.

Have a little faith. Running a business isn't as easy as you'd think. The fact that they tell us ANYTHING about development is nice. Integration will come. Bitching about it won't make it happen any faster.

Part of running a business is dealing with frustrated customers as well.

By the sounds of your statement, you won't pay attention to (or answer) the concerns of frustrated users.

Am I wrong, or can I expect an answer to my questions?

Re: Welcome to the Couchville forums

There is a generally accepted notion in all business that the attitude of the customer directly affects the care, attention, quality, and quickness of the support. So, that being said while the squeaky wheel tends to get the oil, the howling irritating noise tends to get drowned out by the radio. Add that to the fact that the boss has the right to tell any customer to go FO, (which he hasn't, but he could).

Now you know I agree with you and your frustration, but I have learned that no matter how pissed off I get, burning bridges and insulting people makes things worse, not better. That's what you do after you abandon something and want nothing more to do with it. Sounds to me like you still want things fixed, so its worth being patient and polite (or if not polite, then not rude).

Now, no reason why you can't be a smart ass and rip on them, but that can be done politely, something that reminds them they still haven't done what you asked for, just enough to give them a nervous chuckle or maybe a cringe, but not an outright slap in the face.

But, everyone has their comfort zone, post how you like, if nothing else you make the rest of us seem polite and diplomatic by contrast, and god knows some of us need all the help we can get.

Khris, I specifically said "reasonable". If I feel like something or someone is unreasonable (something that I'll admit is a subjective and personal measure), no, I won't pay as much attention to it.

Re: Welcome to the Couchville forums

Fair enough.

Here's my question then........what should those of us who specifically purchased BM expect in terms of receiving the free upgrade which was promised? Will that promise be kept when the day comes that an Integrated version is available, or is SS hoping for the whole issue to quietly disappear?

If there are no plans for an integrated version, what about a refund to those of us (if interested) for the cost of BM?
