[skin] BTV Reactor

Author: CrippledIguana

Short Description: Replacement Skin For Beyond TV
Long Description: Replacement of many of the original BTV skin and icon elements. Predominately blue and black with some white accents with a focus on modernization. I created it for my own personal use, but thought some in the community might enjoy it too.

Version Number: 1.00
Status: 85%
Last Updated: April 12 / 2009
Homepage:
Installation Instructions:
1) Close the Beyond TV Viewscape. (You don't need to exit the tray icon)
2) Find and open the following folder: C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV\FSMedia\
3) Within this folder, you will find an "Images" folder. Rename it to "Images-OLD". This will be your backup copy of the original BTV skin.
4) Download the file and unzip it into the FSMedia folder.
5) You are done! Start Beyond TV and enjoy!

Release Notes: Focus has been on Beyond TV 4 /English, and not other versions; some logos and things may not be complete. If there is demand, I will create the other languages and necessary icons.

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

Looks pretty nice! I've been wanted to customize the skin for a while. I think I'll use this as a jump off point. I'm not a big fan of using video tapes as icons on a DVR but I like the simplified look.

Just a note: Show info shows up as black on black.

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

Hey Asmordean,

Do you have it in Overlay mode? This is what I run BTV in on my machine, so this might be why the show info is black on black for you. It appears fine on mine.

I'll look into fixing it if others plan to use the skin with that mode.
Just let me know guys.

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

Hm - I'll look into it and see what it is. Could either of you possibly PM on how it happens - I'll try to recreate it on my machine and find a solution. Not much use if you can't read anything!

Thanks!

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

Hrm, my install of the skin worked just fine. Very nice. I was getting bored of the TiVo Skin and default skin.

I did notice that the skin doesn't have a "Burn to DVD" icon, the highlight of show selected can be hard to see, and the main pages don't have any mention of beyondTV (logo in top left is gone). It may be stylistic, but I do like having a nod to BeyondTV up there to let my friends notice "wow, and it's not a TiVo or MCE machine".

Thanks for the good work!

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

Has anyone figured out the issue about the show info being all black on black. I have switched between overlay and 3d accelerated mode with no change in the show info.

Re: [skin] BTV Reactor

That bit with the show info box not showing up happened to me if I installed using the instructions typed above and made a completely new images folder with only the btv_reactor zip file contents in it. When I copied the btv_reactor zip file contents into an already existing, default images folder (overwriting duplicate files) I was able to see the show info. There must be some slight differences in the images included (or I'm making too much out of randomness).

Tried it out this morning with my copy of BeyondTV Link . I suggest you give that a shot.
