Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
I think this old firmware 3.2 didn't have full control of that OSD. If it's not that, I would try to restarting your pc.

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
That's great news, Jack!
I've been wanting to try out the 3.4 MVP firmware. I think I read somewhere that there are OSD settings I can change on the Configuration page with the newer firmware. My boyfriend absolutely hates the Hauppauge logo OSD because it takes up almost a third of the screen and that it stays on for so long. Getting rid of the annoying OSD or having it show up for only 2 secs max would greatly improve the Boyfriend Approval Factor in my case. Especially because I forced him to buy the MediaMVP as his Christmas gift to me I make a great girlfriend since I'd rather get electronics than jewelry any day. But I digress... Please let me know how I can edit the files to make MVP 3.4 work with MVPBTV 4.8.1.In the meantime, I'll try rebooting my computer when it stops its current recording. |

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
It's not for the faint of heart. Here's what you need to do:
1) Install Firmware 3.4 (you could do it on top of the existing 3.2 or do a fresh install). Save a copy of the binary directory and the DLLs and exe. 2) Install beta 2 drop of MVPBTV 4.8.1 3) Now, here's where it gets tricky. You must change ALL pathnames that you see in EVERY html file and every js file that list "/temp/image" to your actual path name of your image directory in the Hauppauge directory such as "c:/Program Files/Hauppauge MediaMVP/image/English/". 4) Also change the reference to the webservice.htc in the html files so that the url("..\..\temp\webservice.htc") is pointing to the path as well. 5) you have to copy the binary directory back and the DLLs and exe from step 1. It's because the beta 2 installs 3.2 DLLs and such. If this sounds too complicated, don't try it. You can wait for me to create a special build for people to try. It will probably be sometime Sunday. Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
Does this have to do with Hauppauge moving the profile folders to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Huappauge MediaMVP?
Also, in case people start typing that path I just gave, please note that I intentionally spelled "Hauppauge" incorrectly with transposed "ua" vs. "au" because that's the way it ended up when I installed the 3.4.25345. It's not my mistake. Really. Hauppauge can't even spell their name correctly :=)

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
Jack,
Thanks, I tried your suggestion below and am back up running with most items. I am still unable to see the "Recorded Programs" and the "Program Guide". I did add my BeyondTV recordings folder to the Video as a bypass. When I try to access Recorded Programs or the guide, I also noticed that the error messages say Huappauge instead of Hauppauge for the Application data. Hope this helps in debugging and again thanks. Francisco PS: For those who are interested in trying the suggestion below, I used TextPad to search and replace across all the files at once... Quote:

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
Are you guys actually trying this surgery? Wow! I never thought anyone would try it. But if you are successful, you can get it working to about the same level as 3.2. I may have a build that I'm piecing together for others to try but it's slower than I thought as I discover the new firmware's method. Right now, unless you have the software installed in the generic c:\Program Files\... path my test build will not work for you.
Yes, the path name and the change to the profile directory is all related to why people got whitebackground, and various error messages for this BTV skin and firmware 3.4 (and 3.3). The old pathname generic reference which used to work with the old Firmware, doesn't work anymore. I'm trying to find what the syntax is, but I found that hardcoding works as I listed above. Anyway, I was able to get Firmware 3.4 to show me the recorded shows list and BTV details just fine. In fact, I even played a video that way. It is slow but is nice. It jumps better than 3.2 but I don't have the OSD. It's gone. I think it is supposed to be different but I'm confused by it. I pushed the green button to get the OSD but nothing happens. I'll investigate it some more. I think I like it better for the video controls but I'm not sure. I'm still evaluating it. Finally, the Program Guide will NOT work since I have not modified that for the BTV 4.8.1 API. Also, thanks to the people who have donated and responded. It's a nice boost and it shows my wife that people care. I haven't been doing much around the house since I've been using my spare time programming and investigating.

I'm have a problem hopefully you all can help with. I installed BTV 4.81 and BTV is working great. Next step was the MediaMVP.
The skin comes up on the MVP. I can see the Recorded Shows screen. Click into it and the listing of the recorded shows comes up fine. However when I click on a show to bring up the details it just goes back to the first screen with Recorded Shows, Program guide, etc. Trying the same thing on the server using SHOWUI.bat we do get an error message for a few seconds that is attached below. Weirdly it references line 1285 but that HTML file does not have that many lines in it. Made a copy of the c:\Program Files\Hauppauge MediaMVP directory Uninstalled old MVP software Deleted the c:\Program Files\Hauppauge MediaMVP directory Installed MVP 3.2 Firmware from the link Jack provided Installed BTV Skin 4.81 Beta 2a Verified the user_config.js has var btvLicenseKey = "ebxxxxx-ect-ect" Verified the user_config.js has var strAuthTicket = ""; Any ideas what to try? Thanks

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
Believe it or not, this could be your Internet Explorer version. Any chance you are NOT running Internet Explorer 7? The install is supposed to work with IE6 and IE7 but right now it will only work with IE7.
If your Recorded Shows list works and upcoming recordings works but not the show details page, then it is mostly like the IE version. |

Re: [addon] MediaMVP for BTV 4.8.1
All,
How badly do people want this Hauppauge firmware 3.4 version to work with the BTV skin? I think I know what needs to be done for it but it's getting messy. I might be able to do it but it will take time. I'm wondering if folks really want it that badly. Personally, I'm content with Firmware 3.2. Please respond if you want a 3.4 compatible version. It's going to be alot of work and I don't want to pursue it unless there are folks who are desparate for that version. Also, a donation would go a long way in convincing me its worth the work. ![]() Otherwise, I'm going back to focusing on LiveTV and program guide for version 3.2. |
