Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

First off i did not realize any one was still having this issues with the program (both people who posted about it ether posted that they got it working or responded to a pm that got it working

Second have you tried deleting the C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\BTVPodcatcher2.exe.Config file

(it still exists in your system by your debugging comments -- the latest version should have removed this file but it did not)

Third if that does not work make sure you have installed .net 3.0 (this will for sure fix the issue)

Oh and one more thing are you using this version

I bet it is .net 3.0. I don't have it installed because your requirments said 2.0 was required. Even though the error looks like a .net runtime error. I will test it out tonight.

If you are using the version posted on my last link had a fix that removed a .net 3.0 reference (original developed for 3.0 then changed the code to .net 2.0 for compatability but forgot to remove 1 3.0 connection to an API )
so in theory you do not need .net 3.0 but I can not test this since all my machines have . Net 3.0 and . Net3.5 installed

So if the last version you downloaded was the debuging version (I can tell this by the console statements) then you need to dowload this update and try that before you install .net 3.0 to see if you really need to install .net 3.0

Also to clear somthing up the location the cosole comments point to is where my source code lives and you would not see that level of details in a non debbuging version (so you can probably guess my name)
Please let me know if that works

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Ok... I seem to be working now. Installing 3.0 fixed the issue. I would just add that as the requirement and update your installer to look for it.

One question though... I have BTV set to manage video not created by BTV. However, everything that Podcatcher downloads is get marked "Keep Show Until I Delete It". How do you change this? I want them all "Keep Show Until Space is Needed".

I have a question first off did you install the version I linked to in 72 that version first off will run faster since it does not have the debuging symbols had the fix for not needing .net 3.0

I'm not sure what to do to get btv to manage the shows an let them expire. You already change the one setting I know about "let btv manage external videos." Let me play around with some settings and get back to you.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

I am using the version you linked. I installed 3.0 before running it though. Sorry about that... should have followed the scientific method for ya.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Ok, I am trying to subscribe to the digg reel and I am getting an error with feed message. My other feeds are working fine. Can you see if you can figure out where the problem is? Thanks!

rev3 currently has an issue with there server. they are not supplying the right response when you try to make a connection. They usally fix this by the next bussines day. they servers seam to have this error about once a month.

This is not an issue with btv podcatcher but with the source of the podcast

If you are already subscribe to the feed an see this error just leave your subscription alone and when they fix the server issue it will be back to normal. If you are just subscribing to the feed you can leave your subscription alone but when they fix the issue it proababy will try to download all the episodes in the feed since the program thinks they are new. You can limit the number of episodes too dowload by changing the max shows to download setting for that feed

By the way you can tell why there is an error with the feed by looking at the feed description. Right now it is saying something like a protocol violation

it is not an issue with downloading episodes it occurs when you hit refresh feed. And it is not fixed yet

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Ok. It did come back with an "Error with feed", but the file downloaded and the BTV properties were written. I see the exact same thing with Tekzilla Daily, odd, but its working as far as I can tell.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

I just subscribed to a feed and it didn't seem to write the BTV properties correctly for any of the videos I downloaded even though BTV Podcatcher shows that it wrote the BTV properties. All of my other feeds are fine. The feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/alaskapodshow?format=xml - Here is a screenshot of the issue:

yes it is all rev 3 feeds

The only issue is with the program looking at the rss feed for new episodes. There is no problems downloading show this incuded writing out properties ( note the series title may show error with feed)

A technical description of the error is on windows machines to end a line you need both a carriage return and line feed. On other OS like mac osx and Linux it is just line feed. Mac OS 9 it was just carriage return. I am using the built in XML processing with .net. This .Net processing requires when communicating to use the windows set to end a command. The rev3 server is only sending line feed to end a command. While this is fine for most applications some windows applications will not load the data do to issues of impropper formating. Most developers know about this and will end lines with both a CR and a LF '\r\n' to maximize comparability this will work with all systems. Rev3 maybe created the issue when they added the new show.

my guess is it has to deal with the video file (the way it is formated) and it will not accept the media metadata from btv

Since I am at work if you can try this in web admin try to edit the show information of the file press save and see if btv shows the media information

If it does not show the info then it is btv if it does then I will take a look when I get home
