Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
I love this, but I am having one problem. I am noticing that the Viewscape slows down to a crawl when I attempt to even scroll past a downloaded show in my recorded shows section. Attempting to control it once it is started is difficult as well. I am running a very limber machine. All of my other recordings are not having this problem.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
Sorry for the slow response but I have been traveling all last week and the weekend.
The config files are located on windows xp C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\BTVPodCatcherConfig.xml - this file hold application wide settings please note the password is not stored in plain text for security reasons C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\FeedInfo.bpc - this file hold all the feed information include the feed urls and feed settings and the items in each feed On widows vista the files are in the following folder C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\BTV Podcatcher Not sure why the g4 feeds where not working for you but I just tried them and they seamed to be working now, I do not subscribe to these feeds normal so was not able to notice any outages. If you are still having a issue with these feeds please let me know The viewscape had an issue with the can slow down because the description of the show or has to long of a description (this is not really my problem) but in the most recent version of the BTV podcatcher http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/show...3&postcount=22 if the description is to long I limit the length the amount of text being added to the properties Also please make sure you are using the most recent version of BTV as this has helped the issue. If you want me to look into the item that is slowing down your viewscape can you tell me what feed you notice the problem on and which episode it is occurring on.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
Two questions:
1- How do I remove feeds? I accidently created a duplicate. 2- Why won't a feed such as this work? Is it because its generated from a PHP link? It works fine in Google Reader and Miro. http://rss.streamos.com/streamos/rss...satelliteradio ************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at RSSLibrary2.RSSMain.loadRSS(Boolean fistRun) at RSSLibrary2.RSSMain..ctor(String url, String SaveLocation, Int32 numberToDownload, Boolean BTVintergration) at RSS_Reader.Setup.button1_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventAr gs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.O nMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.W ndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
to remove the a feed
If you are using the most recent version (from post 20 http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/show...7&postcount=20 in this thread) you can double click the feed in the grid at the bottom feed setup form and then click on the delete button if you are you using an earlier version of the program that does not have a delete button you need to double click on the feed in the grid at the bottom of the feed setup from and then remove the feed url text from the text box and press save. Thanks for the information about the feed that wont work I think I found the reason why this wont work and have fixed it in the code. I do not want to make a release right now of the code until the next update of beyond tv comes out as I had to make changes to the way I communicate with the BTV and this makes my version of BTV Podcatcher only work with that version and not the previous versions.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
I am loving the podcatcher. Thank you for building it.
One question: is there a way to take a config file of all the podcasts I have loaded and move it to another machine that is also running the podcatcher, without having to reload them all again? snip

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
you can move the config files to a new computer and it will work
to do this simply install the btv podcatcher on the new computer and run it once (you probably might want to add one feed just to make sure it creates both file but this is not requied) then you take the two configuration files listed below and copy them over to the new computer and replace the files that already exists C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\BTVPodCatcherConfig.xml - this file hold application wide settings please note the password is not stored in plain text for security reasons C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\FeedInfo.bpc - this file hold all the feed information include the feed urls and feed settings and the items in each feed On widows vista the files are in the following folder C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\BTV Podcatcher then you can start up the application and it will load the feed file you should then should go though the feed setup and check the save to folder for each feed and make sure that it exist otherwise you will get an error when a file is downloading and it can not find the directory to save it in. Also if a download start before you change the save to location if you might have to start the download again because I set the filename and save to location for the downloaded before the it starts. if you have any problems please let me know

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
I just started playing with podcatcher and its seems to be working pretty well for me so far.
I do like how it imports the pod casts and provides the metadata for beyond tv to list the name and description for podcast items. I do have a couple of feature requests: - a bandwidth throttle - ability to schedule time of day for updates I play online games a lot and its annoying when my game starts to lag horribly because something on my home network decides to start updating or downloading. It would be great if podcatcher could be set to download at a certain time late at night or early in the morning. Also it would be helpful to be able to control how much bandwidth it uses for the downloads to make it "play nice" and share politely with other computers and applications trying to use the internet on a shared home network. Thanks for providing this cool program. |

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
I might be able to implement a bandwidth throttle not sure about this yet but I will look in to some code I found.
I will add in the next version time of day to allow automatic updates and downloads to occur but this will still have to have the timer event fire in the time so it will not be a complete schedule of when to update occur. Right now if you do not want the program to to update you can edit the timer setting or close the application. you might also look at how often you program updates the feeds and set the timer settings to a higher value.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher
I am pretty sure I fixed this in the next version of BTV Podcatcher
this was the same error that tmar89 was having earlier. I was able to setup that feed and download an item in the version of btv podcatcher built for the current beta of beyond TV (4.8.1). If you would like to use this version that has the fix, you need the beyond tv 4.8.1 version (will have to join the public beta) you can then find BTV Podcatcher in the beyond tv beta section of the forum BTV Podcather for 4.8.1
