Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

First off, I love this addon! One strange thing that happened last week though, don't know if its something to do with the podcasts servers or Podcatcher...but It downloaded ALL the episodes of a couple of the podcasts, almost filled up my HDD! did anyone else experience this, mostly it looks like Rev3 shows.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Thanks for the comments. And it happened to me to and the reason why it happed is because revision 3 changed the way the label the shows in the feeds and this made all the episodes look as if they where new and it started to download them. I then wanted to stop all the hundreds of downloads to do that you can closed the btv podcachter program and reopened it and that cause all pending and active downloads to be canceled and all the items in the feed is marked as not new so it would not download them automatically again.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Yes. Has been happening with DLTV since I first tried this addon. Every couple weeks I'd get it downloading a bunch of old stuff.

I finally looked at the yahoo pipes (reformats and truncates the dltv feed) and use that as a feed so podcatcher can only see the newest one. I like the add on but I only let it run once a week to grab stuff because of this.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Dl.TV had an issue a long time ago with their feed but they fixed it very quickly I am not having an issue at all with the xvid version of their feed. I will look in to an addition to the program that will only pickup the top couple of episodes but I can not give you a time line of how long it will take as I have been very busy lately

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

I have updated the BTV Podcatcher to a version that added the ability to only look at the first few item in a feed to see if they are new instead of the complete feed. You can find this change in the feed setup.

I have also an added a couple of button for easy of use in removing a feed from the feed setup. I have also added a button that will cancel all the active downloads and a button that will remove all downloads form the download manager.

Some other under the hood changes have also occurred.

For the most time I have been able to migrate all the settings to the new version but once I had an issue that i could not resolve. If this occurs you will be unable to start the BTV Podcatcher. To fix this issue remove the file FeedInfo.bpc from the C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher (Windows XP or 2000) or C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\BTV Podcatcher (Windows Vista) folder

I hope this fixes some of issues that you are having with the program downloading a lot of past episodes.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

I installed this yesterday and was able to download a few episodes. Today, however, I am unable to download any episodes from some new podcasts. I can't even download the ones I did yesterday. Is there a log file or something I can review to see where the problem is?

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

not sure why it wont start my guess is the config file or the feed data file might have gotten corrupted.

First try and make sure your internet connection is working

Second if the program is starting and you can see the main window take a look at the feed setup and if any of your feeds show error as the title and the description shows the reason

to create a log file of what is happening click on the start menu an then run and type in "c:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\BTVPodcatcher.exe" >"c:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\log.txt"

on windows vista you might need to type run into the search box under the start menu to find the run dialog and you will need to replace "c:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher\log.txt" with another location that you have write access to.

this will create a log file you where looking for

To reset the program to the original status remove the files FeedInfo.bpc and BTVPodCatcherConfig.xml from the C:\Program Files\BTV Podcatcher (Windows XP or 2000) or C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ Program Files\BTV Podcatcher (Windows Vista) folder

If you can provide me with more details I will try to solve the issue

These files have been previously recreated.

I have a working connection to the Internet.

No errors on the screen.

I started the program using this redirection method, but the log file does not appear to be getting created. I know its not a rights issue.

What episodes does this download automatically? The current date only? I was abel to download an episode tonight by going into the Feedviewer menu option, selecting the podcast, selecting the episode (in the past), and clicked download enclosure and it worked.

Thanks for you help.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

the program downloads all episodes that have a guid that was not previously found in the feed so when a new episode is posted it will be downloaded if the program is set to download new episodes

what feed are you having an issue with

Sorry for the delay in responding as I've been sick. Things seem to be working as expected now.

Thanks

Web Drifter; http://revision3.com/webdrifter/feed/wmv-large

Tekzilla; http://revision3.com/tekzilla/feed/wmv-large

I find the wmv contect to have problems when fast forwarding, not is sync for a few seconds after, and the mp4 contect need ffdshow installed to work or I get blue screen and rebooted.

What are other watching? Are there any good shows to watch beside tech stuff?

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

DLTV and Tekzilla. But from seeing the above I think I'll check out few more.

The writers strike means nothing to me. I still have so much stuff to catch up on. Plus a couple of old series that I have but have not started watching yet.

Re: [addon] BTV Podcatcher

Thanks for the link tips. I'm exploring this weekend!

Anyone have their G4 feeds go south on them? I still get RocketBoom and Tiki Bar, but all the G4 ones (attack of the show, around the net) cause errors or crashes of BTV Podcatcher.
