I've been away from home and haven't been able to work on testing this since last Thursday. Is anyone else testing the latest version from romanoj? If so, how are your results thus far?

This looks interesting!

I'll see if I can picked a unit locally and join the testing.

Re: [addon] MediaMVP w/BTV (October 06)

I have tested the latest fix from romanoj to work with IE7 and everything seemed to work as it should. I say seemed because in the last week or so I have lost the BeyondTV graphics that should show up with the btv skin. Function wise, I can still do all the things I could do before. It's just that my menus are just white text on a black background. Then when I get what should be a box over this, say to confirm a file delete or to ask if I want to continue a file from where I left off, it is just text over the top of the menu and is hard to distinguish from that menu.

I'm fairly certain this has nothing to do with IE7 or romanoj's fix. I do believe it has something to do with what I did. My daughter, who has her own user account on my computer, could not get Windows Media Player to work on her account, it did work on mine. I found a fix online that involved editing the registry and it did indeed fix the problem. I noticed the MediaMVP problem shortly after this and I think it has something to do with registering files.

If someone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
I've been a bit delayed in further testing this week, but I did have trouble with the install of the new version romanoj sent me. Did you have any issues with the install? I simply took the files he gave me and put them in the mvp folder. After that the screen was blank. I'm going to test some more tonight and try to troubleshoot the issue, but let me know if you saw any problems like this.

Thanks,
Brent

Brent,
I didn't have any problems. I first tried without the fix and it didn't work, although it did have more functionality than it did with the beta releases of IE7.
As you stated, I just put the files romanoj sent me in the MVP folder and then it worked.

Sorry I can't be any more help.

Scott

Re: [addon] MediaMVP w/BTV (October 06)

Hi
I just installed a wired MediaMVP palyer added the BTV skin and so far it works great for playing back BTV recordings.

However I can't seem to find the network drives that have my videos and pictures on them. They are mounted on the BTV computer as P: and M: but don't show up in the configuration interface.

I'm using formware 3.2.24125B downladed fromHauppauge web page and MVPBTV 4.4 1a downloaded from SourceForge. I noticed some similer problems eairler but didn't see a soloution. I'd be happy to trial some beta code if you want

For those of you with network shares, read the comments in the user_config.js file. One of the developers commented on how to access networked drives using a special flag for this BTV skin. Let me know if it helps.

Re: [addon] MediaMVP w/BTV (October 06)

Hi, folks,

I'm currently running an older release number (0.2.5) on my BTV 3.7.4 box, and have a couple of questions about the newer version:

1) Will I need to upgrade to BTV 4.x?
2) If MVPBTV 4.4 is for BTV 4.x only, will 0.2.5 cooperate with IE7, since Windows Update is starting to 'suggest' an upgrade?

thx,
pfh

1) The BTV 3.7.5 release should be compatible with the MVPBTV 4.4 version. The code auto-detects and adjusts. I have not tested it but the code is in there for it to work.
2) The bad news is that the IE7 issue will become a problem with the older 0.2.5 and the MVPBTV 4.4. I have an update after the beta test period is over that will fix the IE7 problem. Again, it should be compatible with BTV 3.7.

Re: [addon] MediaMVP w/BTV (October 06)

An update for folks,

Thanks to our testers, I have learned alot on what needs to be incorporated for the update to succeed. The basic IE7 fix appears to work but it is not compatible with IE6. I might have to have two versions or prompt the user to choose during installation.

Also, sounds like the playlist function is important to some folks so I'm going to make it work in this next version. The on-the-fly playlist still works great but the Hauppuage is unable to play pre-existing PLS playlist files. It's not our skin's fault, it's the firmware but I can make a workaround that will make it work.

Finally, I still need another tester or two to check out the Shoutcast and Podcast mod. as well as an installation test.

RomanoJ - sounds like I should upgrade my MVPBTV to the 4.4 code, then, before I'm forced into an IE7 upgrade and my 0.2.5 version quits working, yes?

FYI - m3u playlists don't work either.

I've been trying to install the beta version with no luck. I had planned to test on IE6 first so that incompatibility might be the problem I've been having.

Re: [addon] MediaMVP w/BTV (October 06)

whew, now that BTV 4.5 is out... I've been running the version of MVPBTV that is available on sourceforge (where's the betas?) along with the latest beta firmware. Everything seems to work fine, except Live TV.

When I choose Live TV, I get the EPG, select a show, and select Watch This Episode. After a delay, I get an error: "Automation server cannot create object."

Any ideas?

Have you ever used the skin before?
What version of web browser are you using?
