How about "Show A" preempts conflicting "Show B"

Also, as a by-the-way, while it's great to augment items in color, it's bad user-interface design to depend on color to convey meaning. Nearly 10% of men have some sort of color-blindness. (This is one reason why the original MediaMVP skin sucks.)

Ok, so if you edit the English.txt file, find "InConflictWith = in conflict with" and replace it by "InConflictWith = is pre-empted by conflicting", this will result in:

Show A
is pre-empted by conflicting
Show B
Show C

if that's better, I will modify the distributed file for the next releases.

Except that the meaning was already conveyed by the:

Show A
in conflict with
Show B
Show C

the color was added as a second emphasis...

Re: [addon] BTV Negociator (28 December Update)

I don't know if BTVNeg caused this: 1. I get another Unhandled Exception when I am on the local machine and I try to access the Upcoming Recordings from BTV Web Admin. I use BTVNeg to create these jobs.

2. I don't know if these problems are related. I am geting recordings that are 2-4 gigs but show that they are only minutes long. Its happened 3 times in the past week. Additionally, how can I fix the file to play corrrectly?

Thanks for your help.

In the latest beta at:

BTV Negociator - Alpha release

I did fix an issue that made editing BTVN's recordings from the web admin crash, but that seems to be something different... How were the jobs created exactly?

There are a few threads about such problems, this is a BTV problem...

How were the jobs created exactly?

I use th browser to search by channel and then I record once. I'm using ver 3.52 of BTVN.

If you haven't added too many of such recording jobs, I'd suggest deleting them to see if the web admin still acts the same. If that fixes it, try re-adding the BTVN jobs one at a time, if that doesn't fix it, the problem might be with BTV itself...

Could you send me a copy of the hidden file:

Re: [addon] BTV Negociator (28 December Update)

Fonceur, is there a better way to allow for saving of the settings? It seems that each time I shutdown my computer, BTV-Negociator\Externinator ask if i'd like to save settings. I don't believe I've changed any settings. Perhaps maybe just an autosave check box to eliminate this prompt?

Also, I run Firewire+ recording, and save both firewire and captured files, but the show information doesn't get populated in the firewire recordings. How do i get this option to work properly?

Another thing is that I've added ".tp" in the second parameters box creating filenames that look like "recordedshow-2007-01-04-1.mpg.tp" is there a way to eliminate the .mpg? or suffix the typical name with "_firewire" or something like it?

What do all of the other command options at the end of the second box do? "-l dummy -dummy quiet" etc.....i couldn't get it to record firewire with that string attached.

Thanks.

I suspect that they might not have recorded properly, and you can simply delete those jobs from the Viewscape. Can you remember if those 2 jobs were different from the others or if anything special happened when setting them up?

Indeed, I changed something and since then, when you minimize the window it considers it a resize and ask to save. By now I can just auto-save, until I can resolve the issue.

I'll reply to the rest in the BTV-Externinator thread...

My wife didn't say anything about them, she apparantly watched them yesterday. I do recall that I set them up with BTVN, using the record once option from the browser. I don't recall anything especially problematic happening when I set them up.

Great Call ! I deleted them with BTVN, becasue I carelessly overlooked your suggestion to use Viewscape. But in any event, I can access upcoming again. I also installed BTVN 3.53.

While amputation is one way to solve problems, I'd still like to know what created the problem in the first place... So if it happens again and you can back track the steps that lead to it, let me know.

It was NOT BTVN !

I set up the two programs using the BTVMVP-addon-Program Guide. It was the first time I had ever used it, even tho I had used the addon for a couple of years.

Sorry to waste your grey cells; I had forgotten how I created the jobs until you asked.
