Yes, that's what it should do. AutoXvid doesn't know the difference between BTV posting it, or you doing a Drag/Drop. It's actions should be the same.

Re: [addon] AutoXvid (Aug 18 Update)

Lee,

I just upgraded to AutoGK 2.16 beta, installed the update to autoxvid and I broke it.

When I drug the file onto the autoxvid desktop icon and let go, the AutoGK window came up with nothing in any of the fields and the quality percentage set to 60 instead of 30. From there, everything sort of stops. The only other thing that happens prior to this is the .xml is pulled out of the .mpg. I need to manually end the autoxvid.exe process, as the system tray icon is unresponsive.

Autoxvid.log:
2005-08-24 17:36:53 : AutoXvid: D:\TV\MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.mpg
2005-08-24 17:36:53 : OutPutSize SB Quality 30%
2005-08-24 17:36:54 : EpisodeData exported episode data into D:\TV\MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.xml

Edit/Update: I don't know what happened in AutoGK 2.16, but it's all messed up. I pulled an old copy of 2.15b at http://www.free-codecs.com/AutoGK_download.htm since AutoGK doesn't keep their older beta releases anywhere I could find them and it started the process. Now I just need to cross my fingers and see if it completes it

I will have to get it and see if I can locate what the problem is, I had seen on th forums where they were thinking about changing the input fields, doing away with the choice of DVD or File input, but 2.16 must be very new.

Yeah, the prior install I made the mistake to let it bark at me about new updates. Being on the bleeding edge sometimes has its disadvantages. I just wanted to share with everyone else so they woulnd't upgrade to 2.16 yet.

I'll download it and see if I can code so that both it and prior version work.

Mrs

2.16b Beta AutoGK
I downloaded it, installed, and it is currently encoding right now. I used OutPutSize= Quality 80% it appears that all the fields are filled in correctly. It doesn't have the radio button for file input, but that doesn't appear to cause any problem though. If you don't check the box about warning of a new version though, that will cause a problem with automation, That unexpected MSG box asking if you want to download the new version. But it worked for me, I'll continue to run with it and see what happens.

Alrighty, I just finished encoding a file by dragging and dropping, and the .log file has been sitting in D:\ for over 5 minutes now.

So in the root of D: I have MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.avi and MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0_agk.log, both appear to be "normal" and these are the last entries in my autoxvid.log file:

2005-08-24 17:43:01 : AutoXvid: D:\TV\MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.mpg
2005-08-24 17:43:01 : OutPutSize SB Quality 30%
2005-08-24 17:43:02 : EpisodeData exported episode data into D:\TV\MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.xml
2005-08-24 17:43:05 : Final Path=D:\TV MakeSubDir=0 DeleteSource=0 EpisodeData+1 Shutdown=0 Chapters=0
2005-08-24 17:43:05 : AutoXvid Qued D:\TV\MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.mpg to AutoGK

Also, AgKnot stays open and the hourglass icon still remains in the system tray. I did not touch anything after dragging the mpg to the autoxvid icon.

This is the same issue I was having prior, in terms of manual dragging and dropping. I haven't tested BTV doing a recording and seeing if it takes off from there, yet. At this point all I need to do is move the avi into the D:\TV folder, drag the mpg to the metadataextractor then do the same with the avi, then delete the mpg.

Suggestions?

In AutoXvid.ini under [AutoXvid] section code
Quite= No
If the files are still in root, click on ScheduledRun and EXIT, then start ScheduledRun again. If it is running, you should see a TryTip balleon pop up every 5 minutes saying it is checking for the filename, Do you have under [ScheduledRun] section, WaitForSmartChapters= Yes or No? Do you use smartchapters? If you have yes wait on smartchapters then that may be what it is waiting on. Also in AutoXvid folder there should be a file called DiskQue.txt
click on it and Notepad will load it, Copy it and post it's contents. If ScheduledRun is waiting on filename.mpg.chapters.xml then it will not move the avi until that file appears. Ir sounds to me like that is what is happening. It is waiting on a chapters file to appear that is never going to appear. As a test
rename the filename.xml to filename.mpg.chapters.xml and it should finish up in 5 minutes or less. No, then the Episode data will fail, so instead of renaming,
copy filename.xml to filename.mpg.chapters.xml Then it will see both files there, and will work. Of course that file will not be a real chapters file. But we will know for sure what happened.

Hi Lee,

Quite was set to yes, but I just changed it to no. Wait for smart chapters was set to no as well, as I don't use them.

Here's the last line in diskque.txt. All look identical w/ the exception of the program name:
MXC-(College Girls)-2005-06-30-0.mpg|D:\TV|D:\TV|0|0|1|0|0

I wound up finishing up that file manually myself about 10 minutes ago. Based on the settings in the ini file, though, it shouldn't be looking for the chapters?

I'll start another one before I go to bed tonight to play with in the morning. I'll be checking in here in about 3-4 hours or so, so if you need me to guinea pig a new version I can do that.

By manually do you mean that you moved the file yourself. And by last line was
there more files there? Is AutoGK still encoding other files? If not. Exit ScheduledRun and delete DiskQue.txt before you start anything else. That is a queue of jobs that ScheduledRun is waiting on. If they really aren't being worked on by AutoGK, ScheduledRun will wait forver. If no jobs are in progress
delete the D:\agk_tmp dir too.

Thanks again for all of your awesome help!

Re: [addon] AutoXvid (Aug 18 Update)

Lee:

I recorded Top Gear on the Discovery channel last night. Autoxvid did create the avi in the root but didn't do anything beyond that. I have the avi and the log in the root of D, and that single entry in the diskque.txt. I'll be out during the day today, but can you give me some troubleshooting steps for later this afternoon?

Thanks,

Re: [addon] AutoXvid (Aug 18 Update)

I am having the same issues as neekap with the drag and drop encoding. The avi and log files are just appearing in the root of the drive I am working on, they dont go into the proper directory or transfer show data, and the icon hourglass stays open along with autogk.

When BTV records something new and the autodivx launches by itself it runs everything the way it should.

Also the new AutoXvid that I can specify which BTV folders to encode works great. Now only the recordings I want encoded are encoding. Thanks.

Re: [addon] AutoXvid (Aug 18 Update)

Lee,
I'm in exactly the same situation as neekap, the .avi and AuoGK.log are finished and sitting in the root while ScheduledRun sits idling away in the tray indefinitely.

I noticed something is up with OutPutFolder in the .ini, if I leave a space between "=" and the desired path name:
i.e. "OutPutFolder= D:\Video\MP4"
I get an undesired new folder created with a name of "D:\Video\MP4Not Found"
If I don't leave that space character between there:
i.e. "OutPutFolder=D:\Video\MP4"
then the undesired folder is not created.

Is it possible that one problem might be that ScheduledRun is not parsing the .ini correctly and it's making it hang? Thanks again for your effort and responsiveness!

Re: [addon] AutoXvid (Aug 18 Update)

jsereda, You wouldn't happen to have WaitForSmartChapters= Yes???? If you do drag/drop and you alraedy have a filename.mpg.chaptrs.xml there in the same dir as the mpg, then it doesn't matter, but if there isn't a chapters file there and your ini says to wait until BTV is finished building one, it will wait forever. Assuming
[ScheduledRun]
AGKExecutionHours= immediate
WaitForSmartChapters= yes
DeleteSource= ?
ShutDown= no

ScheduledRun has a loop: It is in this loop once AutoGK is started

ChaptersFlag is turned on by WaitForChapters=yes
loop: Get next JobQue entry
if chaptersFlag -
- yes: if filename.mpg.chapters.xml turn off chaptersFlag
if not chaptersFlag and agk.log
- yes goto cleanup
if not end of JobQue then goto loop
Sleep for 5 min
goto loop
cleanup:

If you have Quite=no are you seeing TrayTip ballon msg every 5 min?
If so does the jobname appear legitimate (mpg name)?
If you have Logging=yes examine any log entries having to do with
ScheduledRun or Cleanup
In your case: my bet is that WaitForChapters=yes is the problem. If so
copy some other existing chapters file changing the filename to match
the name of filename you did the drag/drop.
