[addon] BTVTunerView (Feb 8 Update)

Author:Deuce911
Short Description: Allows you to see the status of the guide and also schedule guide updates.
Long Description: The program allows you to see which Tuner is Recording and which is doing Live TV. Also has a ToolTip in the Tray with the Info also. Also keeps a log of recorded shows and shows you the next 10 shows to be recorded. Episode information displays in Tooltip when highlighted. Also works with jaLCDs to display current show info. Also gives you see the last 40 shows you recorded over the last month. New option allows you to close the bottom 2 listboxes and just see what is on LiveTV and what is being recorded. Works with BTV Passwords now and also works with BTV Link. Also stores log files based on current date like BTV.
Version Number: 1.5.3
Status:
Last Updated: 2/8/05
Homepage:
Installation Instructions: Install in any Directory. Go to Web Admin/Settings/Audio Inputs then Edit Settings (Each Tuner) and Edit the Friendly Name to what you want to see in the program. A Limitation in Microsoft's ToolTip for the tray is you only get 64 characters so limit the size of the name you use for each Tuner. Release Notes: Added functionality to work with jaLCDs via TCP/IP. It will detect if jaLCDs is running and transfer the variable to it. To see variables open the TCP/IP window in jaLCDs. Setup Registry settings as in BTVTunerView.txt file.
Release Notes:
License: Reads BTV/Link License from the Registry
Requirements: Beyond TV 3.5/3.5.1 & BTVLink 3.5.1
Title: BTVTunerView v1.5.3

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

Tried it, calls to internet, does open slow. Shows livetv and current recordings. and minimizes to taskbar icon. Is there a command to restore it rather than doublclicking? Also, does it keep a log of recorded shows? This would also be really cool, so you can track recordings by cards for errors. (I assume you can trace them in their properties, I haven't looked that far)

Good program.

Other ideas on the subject, It would be cool to also see a list of future shows by card, so you could in one motion change cards for shows in a directory view.

Not sure what you mean by calls to internet but my program does not call to internet but it does call to BTV webservices. It also delays 30 seconds to initialize to allow for BTV to start incase you have it start automatically on boot.

DoubleClicking is the only way to restore from the tray. It does not do any logging of recorded shows, that is what BTV Recorded Shows is for.

Good program.
Thanks

I do have a version that show upcoming shows to be recorded but I will not release it until later, I need to do some more testing.
Also you can not see a list of future shows by card since BTV assigns shows to Tuners based on Show Priorities and Tuner Priorities only when the show starts recording as far as I can tell. If that is not correct someone please let us know.

Thanks for the feedback.
Mike

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

My Macafee firewall indicated a program that was not used before was trying to access the internet when I started your program, I didn't read the details, but if it was a btv program or service, then it was one that did not run before otherwise I would have given it permission already. It's not a big deal, just an observation. I was not aware of the time delay and thought this might have caused it.

It would be nice if you could assign a shortcut to maximize the program, so I could leave it minimized to the taskbar and maximize it using the shortcut on a remote. A log file would also be convenient just to have an easy view of which shows were recorded by which card.

For your future shows plugin, will it give you the ability to assign which card you want that show to record on? I can do this manually in btv, but it takes several screens to do.

Thanks again

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

I had created a shortcut for the startup folder and set it to minimize on startup, however it will not launch upon execution.

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

Is there a way or are you going to include in the near future the ability to have this start up already minimized? I put it in the startup folder and it works great.....just wish there was a way to minimize it at startup.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I will try and look into that this weekend, I think I can do that with no problem.

Thanks

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

This is a great little app. I also put my vote in for logging. Not sure why or how to change, but I have 2 Hauppage cards in my system (PVR-150 & 250) and BTV uses the generic driver name in the log file instead of the Friendly name. Thus I can't determine which card recorded which show. Not important when things are working well, but would be good to have when troubleshooting individual card issues.

Again great app.

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

I am currently testing a new version that does Recorded TV Logging and also put the Episode Description in a ToolTip when you Click and Highlight a show.
Also it starts up Minimized.

I will test tonight and if no problems I will put it up tomorrow.

Thanks
Mike

Re: [addon] BTVTunerView

Super!!! Can't wait!!! Thanks a lot.

PS -> I love your configuration!!! Those 400GB units must have costed you some... How did you manage to fit all the harddisks in that SS case? Did you need any mods? Is heat a problem? I run 3x200GB myself now and hoping to go to a similar configuration to yours sometime soon with a dedicated h/w raid card. Do you use one by the way or are you relying on mobo based RAID facility.
