It doesn't look like it ever checks the networklicense key in any of the logs.

The fourth line of the TunerView Log is where it is not finding the BTVLink License and it is erroring out. The third line is where it is not finding a BTV Key. The program is working as it is supposed to.

When you have BTV the key is stored in the following location:
registry.hkey_local_machine.software\snapstream media\beyondtv.ProductKey

Basically it is stored under ProductKey for BTV.

For BTVLink it is stored under:

registry.hkey_local_machine.software\snapstream media\beyondtv.NetworkLicense

It is stored under NetworkLicense.

To determine which program you are using I check in the TaskManager to see if BTVAgent2 is running for BTV and BTVD3DShell for BTV Link, which ever is running I verify that Registry Key.


I looked under all the logs and in the registry and I do not see any problems, please check to see if BTVD3DShell is running in the TaskManager to verify that what the program is looking for is OK, also verify once again the registry values that the program is looking for. Other than that I am not sure what else to try, did you try reloading TunerView again?

I think I misunderstood the intent of the program then. I didn't realize that you must have BTV or Link running to run BTVTunerView. I was assuming that it would just try to log in with whichever key it could find. Could you make it just do that without having to have anything else running? That is what I have been doing with my little apps.

Just want to add - BTVTunerView works like a charm and is incredibly useful when I run BTVLink first. I would just prefer that I didn't have to, and that is why I thought it wasn't working properly.
So, Feature Request - log in using what ever key is available in this order if neither BTV nor BTVLink are running:
1) Product Key
2) Network license.

I guess I could do that with BTVLink but BTV has to be running somewhere in order for it to work since it uses BTV's Web Services to get its information.

I am very busy currently and I will look into this when I have time (For BTVLink that is).

Of course, I mean without having something running on the local machine. For me, my BTV is always running on a headless server, and the machine I would run BTVTunerView on is my personal desktop. Sometimes I watch shows on there, but most of the time I would like to have BTVTunerView running so I know what is going on. Especially now, when I am having all these 0MB issues.

Killer app! Thank you! Might I suggest an XP behavior on the close control for the display window. Instead of closing it minimizes back to systray. That way my firefly X button will simply minimize the app.

The display has 5 lines for live tv and 5 lines (with a slider) for recordings in progress. Is there a way to increase the # of lines from 5 to the number of tuners installed (7 in my case) or to some other fixed value (10)?

When I use this addon I don't get the tuner info for Live TV... I see current, recent, and upcoming recordings shown correctly, but not Live TV. In the log it shows that it finds my BTV license, but every 30 seconds it says it can't refresh Live Tv due to an unknown error. I checked the registry entries for localhost, password, etc. are correct and I know it used to work back in the 3.x versions, but this is my first try since upgrading to the 4.x versions. Anybody else seeing this?

Update: BTVTunerView does show the Live TV tuner activity when viewing digital OTA using my FusionHDTV5 USB, but not for the analog channels tuned using the PVR250MCE's.

I finally reached the point where I recognize the tremendous value provided by this add-on. With six tuners and three BTV Links running, it provides invaluable information in one location! Very, very nice.

I installed it last night, but observed a couple of problems. On the tuner server running BTV, it worked and correctly showed the HTPC BTV Link viewing Live TV on tuner 1 (Fusion HDTV). I then started BTV Link on another computer, watching Live TV tuned to a different digital channel (a second Fusion HDTV). The tuner viewer then changed and showed the SAME TUNER (tuner 1) active on the channel I had tuned the second BTV Link to. My wife was still watching Live TV on the HTPC. I stopped Live TV on the other computer and the Tuner Viewer then again correctly showed Live TV active on Tuner 1 on the channel my wife was watching.

Also, since there were no recordings occurring at the time, the Tuner Viewer's recording list was empty. If I clicked the mouse in that area, the following occurred:

I have noticed this exact same behaviour, but it used to work correctly. The only time it is correct for me, is when all 3 of my tuners are active.

I also liked this program when I had it working with bytv3.5 . After upgrading to 4.0 and then 4.1 the old version does not seam to work very well. Is this update going to work with 4.1? I hope so as I have missed this little program. As stated above with 6 tuners, I have 7 and would like to keep track of which cards are recording. Once again thanks for the work on this and please let me know if it works with 4.1 .

Unfortunately I had a HD crash about 4 months ago and lost all of the source code for all of my programs, I have not tried to reconstruct it now cause my version is working fine with BTV 4.1 and with 6 Tuners (2 are HD). I cannot promise anything but I may try to look at it and reconstruct it over the next few weeks.

Also I noticed that if you have FM Tuners defined they need to be at the end of your Tuner List, what that means is if you have FM Tuners please delete the FM Tuners in Setup exit setup then rerun setup and it will add the FM Tuners at the end of your list.
