I am having some trouble getting this plug-in to function correctly. I'm using the tv_grab_na_dd program within the xmltv wrapper to output my XML file. When I bring up the channel editor within your program, the channel number column is not populated. I have to insert this information manually. I was wondering if this might be a bug or if I’m doing something wrong.

This is by design : XMLTV does not include anything to specify channel number. So you have to use the channel editor to define them (and create and assign lineup).

How am i to automate the process if i have to manually enter the channel numbers in each time i import to BTY?

i downloaded the xmltv zip file, and typed in the "cmd" tv_grab_il --configure, after that i typed "tv_grab_il" and the windows started to run, and made a file called "D:\.xmltv\tv_grab_il.conf".

can please some one help how do i proceed from here?? pls i am circling around this thing for 5 hours

You should try something like : "tv_grab_il --output epg.xml" to make it save the listings to a file.

i managed to impotr tnd everything' but when i go to "Program Guide" he asks me for password for snapstream.net, that i dont have. i am a trial user and never got send a password.

You have to disable the use of Snapstream.Net, in Web Admin (http://localhost:8129), choose "Setting" then "Snapstream.Net Settings" and choose "Disable" for "Allow Automatic Updates".

You should also read this for detailed instructions on how to setup XMLTV import : http://www.lmgestion.net/@en-us/4/22/21/article.asp

Edit : the "Program Guide" link in Web Admin direct you by default to Snapstream.net, you must install a web based program guide like mine and configure BTV to use this program guide instead (also in Setting / Snapstream.Net settings).

i got a message that to install it i need "internet information server" i searched the net and didn't find such a program.

os: xp pro (media center edition 2005)

edit: as far as i know the media center version is based on xp pro but maybe i am wrong

IIS is not installed by default but can be found on the WinXP Pro cd.

I don't know if it's included on MCE cd?

god i swear it's easyer to invade iraq than to get this thing work!!!! 10/15 HR just for this

i installed IIS, and the "Web Based Program Guide 1.9" in the right directory, typed http://computer name/guide and nothinggg shows up just a 404 error page not found.

i also registered the ASP.Net by typing the above kine in command promp, what can you suggest that i did wrong? thanks.

PS: how dose your program linking with my xml file? i didn't see by any stage in the installation that he asks for the location of the xml file.

If you got a 404 page : the guide is not correctly installed or perhaps in another directory. Look in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot to see if there is a "guide" directory; if not uninstall / reinstall the guide, in the last step of the setup wizard you'll be asked for a directory and port : just leave "guide" and "80".

Note : the web guide doesn't need to know where your XMLTV file is, because it doesn't need the XMLTV file, instead it use the file produced by the XMLTV Importer (and it knows where those files are).

So basically :

1) Install BTV 3.5
2) Grab XMLTV data
3) Install XMLTV Importer and import your XMLTV data into BTV
4) Configure BTV to use the new lineups imported
5) Install the Web guide (after installing IIS through Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components in Control Panel).

the directory "guide" does exist as you said.

to find out the comp name i clicked properties on "my computer" and "computer name, i guess that is the right way.
