What does the BTV log say? If it can't import the data then an entry must be written in the log.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I am using BTV 3.74 and the XMLTV Importer but I just can't get it to work - the error I get when running the importer is
"unable to start beyond TV update : unable to connect to BTV license manager"

I have read the rest of this thread and have tried the suggestion about the password.

I was not using a password in the Web Admin - but just in case I have now set a password and I have updated the password in the Importer - but still the same error -- any other suggestions?

The Importer will use http://localhost:8129 to connect to the Web Admin. So make sure that you have not changed the port of the Web Admin or that another BTV Plugin using the Web Admin is not already using the Web Services with the machine name instead of localhost (as this will lock the access for the Importer).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Honestly I don't know why it's happening. Does rebooting your PC clear the problem? Does the importer still works (it seems to be working). Must be a .Net / Windows Form glitch regarding resource allocation...

Regards,
Stéphane.

Well, do you remember if you installed something (changing a driver, applying a patch..) or had any problems of any kind before this happen?

Have you tried to reinstall the importer?

Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

i don't remember what i did. i update alot of things. it did work find so i knwo its not the importer. i agree if looks like a .net problem. just wondered if you had seen or heard of it before.

Its is no problem and to anyone that reads this the importer is still the best and i wouldn't stop using it. its all we have in the uk and the work that was done making it is great. keep up the good work

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I'm having some issues with programs with the same title all having the same description (and being marked as repeats). Ive read the FAQ and tried all the different identity detections but it seems to make no difference. When I re-run the import, the descriptions are still all the same.

Now one possible reason for this may be if the import doesn't update existing valid shows (only removes old ones and adds new ones), in which case new episodes should have valid descriptions. Is this the correct behaviour or am I still doing something wrong?

Cheers
Andy

Yes, in some situation the Importer doesn't always update the description. What you should do is:

1) Delete the content of the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\3rdPartyGuideData folder

2) In the Importer choose the identity detection based on show description

3) Run the Importer again.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hello Stefan...I have a small problem!
I cant get my program data to work anymore...BTV dont want to record for exampel Paradise hotel with the setting "Record New shows"

I have tried to import in all different ways. Can you understand whats wrong with my setup? I post a small example of my tvdata.xml

Either your program or BTV messes this up for me :-(

<programme start="20051108223500 +0000" stop="20051108231000 +0000" channel="TV4">
<title lang="sv">Paradise hotel</title>
<desc lang="sv">Svenskt underhållningsprogram från 2005. </desc>
<credits />
<year production="2005" />
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">0 . 21/24 . 0/1</episode-num>
<premiere />
</programme>

--------- my next entry for paradise hotel

<programme start="20051109223500 +0000" stop="20051109231000 +0000" channel="TV4">
<title lang="sv">Paradise hotel</title>
<desc lang="sv">Svenskt underhållningsprogram från 2005. </desc>
<credits />
<year production="2005" />
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">0 . 22/24 . 0/1</episode-num>
<premiere />
</programme>

All is fine with your XMLTV file. BTV should have set to record both episodes of "Paradise hotel" as :

* They are both "New"
* They are both different episodes (thanks to the episode number)

What BTV is actually doing when you want to record this episodes, does it set the recording job and put a red dot with a slash inside indicating that the show will not be recorded (in this case it should indicate why : because the show is a repeat or because the show was already recorded or because the show is set to record another day/time) ?

Regards,
Stéphane.
