Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I just upgraded from 3.4 to 3.5.3 and changed from the PVS XMLTV Importer to Stephane's slick new XMLTV Importer. However, I don't see any lineups listed in the Channel Editor, and when I click on "Update" in the Channel Editor an exception occurs.

Here's the pic:

Any idea why?? I am using a custom channel lineup because I don't see "SnapStream.Net Lineup" listed as one of the options.

Please help!!! I'm desperate...

You should have a lineups.xml file in the installation directory of the Importer (when you are in the Classical Interface, you will see the directory path in the "Settings Directory" field). This lineups.xml file is created by the Importer (if not found) when you open the Channel Editor.

So for me you have a permission problem in the "Settings Directory" and the Importer could not create the lineups.xml file.

Let me know if you can find this file.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I do have a lineups.xml file in the XMLTV directory. It contains:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<lineups>
<lineup id="1" name="Snapstream.Net" />
</lineups>

Even when I change "Snapstream.Net" to match the name of my lineup ("StarHub"), I don't see any lineups when I go to the Channel Editor.

I also tried changing the permission for the lineups.xml file to full control for everyone and it still did not work.

Thanks,
Bryan

In this case the Importer must have displayed a warning message just after you clicked on the "Edit Channels" button. Surely a message stating that your XMLTV file could not be found or opened.

You must first resolve the situation pointed out by the error message before the Channel Editor will work.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hi Stephane,

There is no error message displayed until I click on "Update" in the Channel Editor which causes an exception.

I can even run "Import" fine. However, I just cannot get the Channel Editor to display a lineup.

I changed the permission for the entire Beyond TV XMLTV Importer directory to allow Full Control for Everyone so it is not a permissions issue.

Thanks...

I upgraded from 3.4 to 3.5.3. Could it be the XMLTV Importer is looking at the wrong place for the channel lineups?

No, if the lineups.xml file is created this is not the problem. For me the Channel Editor can't initialize properly, and you should not see anything in the Channel Editor : nothing in the "lineup" tab, nothing in the "channels" tab and nothing in "additional channel" tab.

The only thing that doesn't produce an error message but result in Channel Editor to not initialize is if you have no channels at all in your XMLTV file. Look for the file channels.xml in the Settings directory, if this file is empty* then no channels were found in your XMLTV file.

* empty means, you will see only something like <channels></channels> in it.

So check if you are selecting the right file in the "XMLTV File" field of the Importer.

If you are using the right XMLTV file, send me your XMLTV file at lmgestion@hotmail.com and I will have a look at your file to see what is wrong with it.

Regards,
Stéphane.

I received your XMLTV file and there is no channels inside, only programs. For the Channel Editor to behave correctly (and the Importer to work), the XMLTV file must have channels.

Regards,
Stéphane.

This means that the XMLTV Importer cannot log in to the BTV Web Admin, either because you use a password in the Web Admin or for another reason (Web Admin is down for example).

If you use a password in Web Admin, you should specify it in the Importer (either in the Wizard or the Classical Interface).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hello Guys,

First off all, great job, nicely done.

I have a bit of a problem.

XMLTV importer goes all the way thru and says that import is finished and then BTV starts to load the data and it seems that its working, but around 81% the little arrows disapear and beyound tv doesnt show any line-ups, when I go back to BTV main screen and go back to the guide, it says that BTV was not able to load any data and asks me if I want to download the data from snapstream server at which I say no and it just exits the guide.

The XML file seems to be ok, what else could it posible be ? ANy help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This is surely because you have not assigned one of the imported lineup to one of your videosource. For this you'll have to go to the WebAdmin (http://localhost:8129) and choose "Settings" then "Audio and Video Inputs" and edit each of your video source and choose one of the imported lineup.

You can also go to "Settings" then "Channels" to delete unused lineup.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Thank you for a fast reply StephaneM,

Actually I did do that(one of the first things I did and disabled the updates) and it does start the process of importing the guide, but gets to like 80 something % and just stops. And after if I go to the main screen and go back to the guide it then says that no valid data was found (or something to that effect) and asks me if I want to download from the snapstream servers and set it as default.
