Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I have also seen this behaviour in version 3 and suspect this is to encourage a small donation to StephaneM after which you will receive a download link to a version which has a built in scheduler that runs silently.

This works in a similar fashion to the BTV Web guide where you can only schedule a recording with the "donation" version.

I see this as eminently fair as Stephane puts in a huge amount of work on these programs and without the importer, BTV would be almost useless outside of the US.

Webbo is right, starting with version 3.0 the /silent (and /update) parameter is only available to donators.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hello All,

If you wish to upgrade BTV to version 3.5.3, you'll have to use version 3.2 of the Importer.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Stéphane, what was the fix applied for Daylight Savings Time? I'm still having issues with this. Ultimately, XMLTV realized that DST had kicked in, but the importer (3.2) is still showing everything as an hour off with the DST flag turned on.

I have manually reduced the offset by one hour, but was curious if you had seen this problem.

The issue was that I was indeed applying DST but only DST, thus discarding the offset entered in the Importer.

For instance : you are GMT+1 with DST (+1). Then importer when not in DST removes one hour, and when in DST should remove again one hour. It was only removing the hour for DST. The fix is it is now removing 2 hours.

Your problem maybe that XMLTV has noticed that DST is on : you can't have both the importer and XMLTV to compensate for DST. The DST option in the importer is useful when the air time for a program in your XMLTV file doesn't change throughout the year (that would be normally the case as only GMT+XX should change).

For instance you have one show that airs every day at 20h00 local time. If the XMLTV says it is airing at 20h00 GMT+XX when not in DST and that it is airing at 19h00 GMT+XX when DST is on (if DST means +1), then you don't need to use the DST option in the importer.

Regards,
Stéphane.

OK, another problem. I finally got around to updating the web guide (to 2.4) and am now getting this error in my browser:

You mean to access the guide you only have to type : http://localhost and not http://localhost/guide (or whatever you like for guide)?

If this is the case then 2.4 will not work properly for you out of the box. I am expecting that the guide be in his own folder and not at the root of IIS.

I'll make a fix for this.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Excellent. This has actually worked for all previous versions, so I am surprised that it no longer works...

Unhappy Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Has anyone got this working with BTV 3.5.2 in US. I am using tv_grab_na_dd and the xmltvimporter says import is done but i do not see anything in the BTV logs or the channep lineup.

I have tried everything in the guide as well as the various forums posting about xmltvimporter.

Thanks

Import is a two time process :

* First the Importer convert your XMLTV files into XML files suitable to BTV, those files are in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\3rdPartyGuideData

* Once those files are created the Importer tolds BTV to pick them up. BTV must be running to do so. If the Importer can't trigger BTV update, it should report it. Also the importer has no way to tell BTV where those XML files are. So they must be in the right location (the importer know they must be written to \Snapstream\Beyond TV\3rdPartyGuideDate, it just complete that path with your real "All Users" path).

So check for the existence of XML files in the 3rdPartyGuideData, if no files are in there (or somehow files that doesn't contain something that look like your data), the conversion was not successfull. In this case you might want to check first that you correctly edited your channels and lineups in the Importer.

If there is XML files in the folder, look BTV logs closer, it should try to pick them up and fail to do so, but at least it will report it.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Unhappy Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Thanks for the quick reply.

The 4 files LineUp.xml, Episodes0.xml, Programs0.xml and LineupInfoByIndex.xml are in the
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\3rdPartyGuideData
directory.

The Snapstream logs have no reference at all to the guide data. I did restart it just in case and even reinstalled it.

******************* Starting Log*********************
[4/10/2005 18:22:59] Version 3.5.2 (Build 2006)
[4/10/2005 18:22:59] Loaded application data from: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV
[4/10/2005 18:23:00] Scheduler started.
[4/10/2005 18:23:02] Using Better quality.
[4/10/2005 18:23:19] The Beyond TV ViewScape is closing itself due to a close message.

This is a subscriber edition of Snapstream that came with the Diamond XtremeTV card and it had 60-day trial license to Snapstream.Net but full license to use Beyond TV.

I do not see any error when i click on the Update to BTV button on XMLtv importer. I even ran it manually from the command line and i can see the process running. I didnt wait for too long, does it take a long time to process the update or i feel nothing's working.

I am running Windows XP SP 2.

Thanks
