There should not be any category reassignment if you import again unless the XMLTV data has changed.

When you categories are changing to "Other", you should check what the Importer think it must assign to "Other" by using the categories editor and clicking the "Test" button for the "Other" main category.

Stéphane.

This is what happens when no guide data was imported into BTV.As soon as BTV runs out of data, the "Program Guide" menu entry is removed from the UI.

So you should review the BTV Logs (from the WebAdmin) and the XMLTV Importer logs (from the Windows Event Viewer) to see if data were imported as it should (you should also check the the XMLTV grabber has also downloaded new XMLTV data).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Hello !
Is there any way that the Importer could keep X days (maybe all data in XMLTV file) of program history and also to have the webguide display it ?
Quite often I would like to have the oppertunity to go "back" one or two days to check the TV schedule to find out why a certain show wasnt recorded.
Can this be done ?

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Please forgive the questions of a total n00b.

I am very much interested in being able to grab TV listing and import them into my BTV. I live in a condo that has its own TV channel set up and cannot use the existing guides from Snapstream.

Was told that I could download TV listing for my area (Quebec, Canada) and with the use of your program, map the local cable company's channels to my condo channels, thus allowing me to schedule upcoming shows.

Have looked at your documentation on your website. Have downloaded xmltv grabber-win32.zip from sourceforge and attempted to install and run it. Nothing worked.

Have tried to go through the documentation supplied, but don't understand 3/4 of the things written.

Is there a user guide for dummies somewhere that you could point me to that might help.

I appreciate any and all assistnce.

TIA.

The XMLTV grabber is a command line utility. So you have to run it in a command prompt.

The documentation of the XMLTV grabber is in the doc/man folder (where you extracted the conten of the zip file).

There are many grabbers included in the XMLTV grabber, one for each supported countries. I suppose that for Canada, you can use the North American grabber, which is tv_grab_na_dd. This grabber needs that you subscribe to schedules direct. I believe that all is explained in the tv_grab_na_dd.txt doc file.

Once subscribed you'll be able to use the grabber like this (typing this in a command prompt)

xmltv.exe tv_grab_na_dd --configure (to set up the grabber)

xmltv.exe tv_grab_na_dd --days 7 --output epg.xml (to download the XMLTV file)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Merçi, Stephane for the reply. It helps.

Are there other alternatives to XMLTV grabber which would not require a paid subscription and would still work with your utility?

Schedule direct does offer a 7 day trial. For testing purposes, should I still be able to run your free version with its trial?

If all goes well I could then pay the subcription and make the donation. (Just hate to spend money on things that end up not working as I expected. <smile>)

Thanks for your help and patience

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Stephane,

question I've used your tool for 3 years now and it worked like a charm.

Problem now is the fact that our xml grabber tv_grab_be isn't working anymore.

So i looked for an alternative which was found on http://mc2xml.110mb.com/ . This porgram works blistering fast an gives you 2 weeks of information within 6 seconds

I tried to import the xml file generated by the program with your tool but no data was found by your importer.

Could you have a look what is missing to combine those two marvelous programs ?

thx in advance,

Gert

Make sure that you have the DTD file in the same directory as the XMLTV file.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I am attempting to upgarde to a fresh 4.9.2 build after a system failure. After installing the XMLTV Importer 5.7, creating lineup and channels from my XMLTV file, the import into BTV works fine.

The problem is that when I go into the BTV advanced settings and try to assign the lineup to my PVR-250 set up composite tuner (I am tuning an external cable box), the lineup does not appear in the drop donw list. However, if I go into the Customize Lineup, I can see the lineup and all seems well.

I just cannot seem to assign the linup to my tuner.

Any help would be most appreciated.
