Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I am still having problems.
When installing the new version I said I want to keep the old settings.
The result after import is that no new data was added at all.
This is what I get in the import-log.xml
Code:

it seems that there was a problem launching the grabber (at least setting its task priority). The other errors simply means that there were no programs to import for the channels.

So you will have to check that indeed there is program data in the XMLTV file and that during the upgrade some settings were not lost (especially time offset).

You can send me all the XML files in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LM Gestion\Beyond TV XMLTV Importer and your xmltv file zipped to lmgestion@hotmail.com so that I can have a look at those files and see if there is anything wrong.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Bonjour,

I had to install the BTV 4.61 build 3939 on my Vista Ultimate 32Bit system for stability reason. I use BTV XMLTV 5.6, which worked like a charm on the latest version of BTV 4.7. After my downgrade to BTV 4.61 and a clean install of BTV XMLTV 5.6, I am faced with a strange error when I run the wizard Import function. It says, Unable to start Beyond TV update: Unable to connect to BTV Web Admin.
I can connect to the Web Admin via the regular url and port. No password has been set.

The log shows "<message>Error occured when connecting to BTV API.
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. --> 5a90c3c2-0886-428c-bb2a-b453de3fd1a4-00000000 did not validate with SnapStream.Net.

at BTVXMLTVImport.BTVLicenseManager.BTVLicenseManager .Logon(String networkLicense, String password)
at BTVXMLTVImport.XMLTVImporter.Do36Update()</message>"

Any idea?
Cheers,

This can happen when downgrading BTV. The error means that the BTV product key cannot be validated on SnapStream servers.

Usually to recover, you have to uninstall completely BTV (you may also have to clean the registry to get rid of BTV components registration and stored product key).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

It looks as if the next version of BTV may have a new security model which will require some changes to many plug ins.

Will this affect the XMLTV importer and if so, is it likely to be updated?

Yes XMLTV Importer and Web Guide are concerned with upcoming BTV 4.8 release. Both Importer and Web Guide should be updated to support 4.8 soon after it will be released.

However, as both the XMLTV Importer and Web Guide are backward compatible (up to the BTV 3.5), I hope I'll be able to manage to keep this backward compatibility, otherwise 4.7 will be the latest BTV version supported by XMLTV Importer and Web Guide.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Does the Web Guide 3.3 work with BTV 4.8? I installed the latest importer but seem to be having problems with the web guide. Just wondering if it's just a personal problem or if I need to hold on for the Web Guide to be updated.

Thanks

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Thanks once again for the quick response. I have returned to version 4.7.1 and all is well.

Just wondering how you control/determine the colors that display in the web guide for each category?

Thanks again.

Neal

When you set up the Web Guide, you can type keywords for some categories. Each of those categories get a color in the guide.

If you want to edit the keywords, you can uninstall / reinstall the Web Guide, or edit manually the Web.config file (C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\guide usually)

If you want to change the colors, they are defined in the css file : C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\guide\images\styles\grid.css

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Thanks Stéphane,
http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/imag...es/bowdown.gif

I just want to make sure I've got this down. There appears to be Seven categories that are used for the color coding of the Guide. The keywords used by the guide are the words or categories that are assigned by the xmltv importer based on the keyword categories of each show. So unless the importer assigns a show to one of the seven categories it will not pick up a unique background color on the guide.

Is there a way to add additional categories that can have unique background colors? I tried adding
Code:
<add key="categorySeries" value="SciFi" />
to the web.config file and
Code:
a.CategorySciFi
{background-color:#33FF44;}
to the grid.css file but the guide doesn't seem to recognize the new category for coloring the background. Am I on the right track or am I way off course?

Thanks

Correct (though it still keyword, so the guide try to match the "color" keyword, to the category for the show, it's not necessarily an exact match)

No.

You are limited to these 7 "top levels" categories. The idea is to correctly spot movies / series / sports / news / kids / recreation / educationnal shows in the guide (though you can decide to use it for genres instead : sci-fi / horror / drama etc..)

The reason why : beyond seven, you cannot use colors to make clear distinctions (if you are not color blind that is, otherwise divide it by 2).

Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I thought I had things going good until.....
I figure I must have something misconfigured.
I used XMLTV Importer to import the XMLTV data.
I setup multiple Categories and Sub-Categories.
I then import the Data and it all seems to work correctly.
When I view the programs with the Web Guide I see many of the programs with the different colored backgrounds (which is what I want).

If I then import the data again. All programs seem to be assigned to the "other" category. (not what I want).

Observations:
When I import the data the first time it appears that programs assigned to multiple categories are assigned to categories that look like:
"drama / suspense / action" or "science fiction / horror / drama"

Looking at the "programs0.xml" files in the 3rdPartyGuideData directory after the first import I don't see any data in the category area. But I do see data like the above in the genre fields. After the second import is when I see "other" assigned to the category fields of the episodes.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice would be appreciated.

Neal
