This is because you entered wrong channel numbers in the XMLTV Importer channel editor.

So write down the exact channel number in your "ATI AVStream" lineup and use them in the XMLTV Importer channel editor.

Anyway here is a few tips. Usually you have to launch the grabber with a command line, for instance : xmltv.exe xmltv_grab_fr --output epg.xml

The command arguments here are : "xmltv_grab_fr --output epg.xml" (without the quotes).

Also note that the grabber is launched from it's own directory (the "Start in" directory) so it will find the config file for xmltv.exe and all other files relative to the xmltv.exe directory. For instance "--output epg.xml" tells the grabber to save the XMLTV data into epg.xml, this file will be saved in the xmltv.exe directory (because the Importer start the grabber from it's directory).

Regards,
Stéphane.
I know how to run the grabber from the command line. I use the command "xmltv.exe tv_grab_na_dd --days 13 --output c:\xmltv\epg.xml" from the "c:\xmltv" directory. I thought that the importer was supposed to run it automatically though, otherwise what's the point of telling it where the xmltv.exe is or the entering in the arguments. If that's what it's supposed to do, it's not doing it for some reason. My field for grabber executable is "c:\xmltv\xmltv.exe" and the field for arguments is "tv_grab_na_dd --days 13 --output c:\xmltv\epg.xml".

Also, I think I may be losing my lineups beyond 5 days. I updated just a few days ago with 13 days and now it says "5 days left"

The Importer only launch the grabber when it runs unattended. To be able to run the Importer unattended you have to install the donator version.

Otherwise when you just launch the Importer manually and click on the "Import" or "Update" button, it will not launch the grabber.

I don't think BTV is loosing the lineup, in my opinion you do not really have 13 days of data with Zap2it but only 7+, this way the 5 days warning is justified (as the Importer didn't imported anything).

Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Ok, so I guess the grabber lines are not really important unless you have the donator version then. There could be some more info on that in the program, I think.

Also, the 7+ days thing is a good theory, but I currently have data up to 6:30 pm on wed. the 27th. I may have updated at 6:30pm yesterday, but I don't really remember. If the guide drops back down the 5 days, I will let you know.

If you want to backup the Importer configuration (this include lineups/channels), backup all the xml files in the Importer installation folder (otherwise filenames are self explanatory : lineups.xml = Lineups definition, channels.xml = Main channel list, clone_channels.xml = Additional channels, lookup.xml = Importer history)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

Stephane, I'm haveing a little trouble!

I'm getting the message:

Unable to start beyond TV update Unable to connect to web admin (The request failed with HTTP 403 Forbidden)

This has just started happening after I had to change the URL my grabber gets its data.

THe importer seems to import the data ok, but won't then import it to BTV. All the channels and lines are showing when I goto edit them.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Jamie

Have-you changed anything lately that could cause the BTV Web Admin to not behave correctly (changing the URL of the grabber apart)? Perhaps restarting BTV or reboot the computer will do the trick (the BTV Web Admin can sometimes stop responding altogether and killing the BTVNetworkService.exe process / restarting BTV or the PC is the only solution to bring it back online).

However you can try to connect directly to the Web Admin API: http://localhost:8129/wsdl and see if there is any trouble here (if you do then you would be able to contact SnapStream support)

Usually to recover from connection error like this one, there is nothing else to do except: reinstalling BTV (backup the BTV settings before though).

Either Uninstall BTV then Reinstall BTV

And even: Uninstall BTV, Uninstall .Net Framework 1.1, Install .Net Framework 1.1, Install BTV.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

thanks for your quick reply. I had just read a post where you suggested that. When I do try and select any of those services, they all return the 403 forbidden error.

I have tried rebooting the pc a couple times. I will try reinstalling it next.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

OK I tried uninstalling btv and .net 1.1. Rebooted, reinstalled them both, still get the same error.

I used the backup/restore feature of btv. Should I try manually setting it up again from scratch??

Should I try a different version of the importer??

Damn this is annoying. 8-(

This will not make a difference. If the BTV API doesn't respond, even when using a browser, the Importer will not be able to do anything about it.

So you are left with two options :

* go from scratch : don't use the restore feature when you install BTV, but instead go through the setup wizard, then try to do a guide Import. If this works something got corrupted in your settings that prevent the BTV API to well behave.

* You can also try to upgrade BTV to a newer version

Also, you should really try to remember what you may have done that messed it in the first place and see if you can revert it (you can try the Windows XP system restore utiliy). You may have installed a software that somehow interfere with the BTV API (something that may use the same TCP port).

If all that fail : contact SnapStream support and tell them that BTV API is responding with 403 errors (you'd better tell them what you get by using your browser : http://localhost:8129/wsdl, then choose "BTVLicenseManager.asmx, chose "Logon", type your product key and BTV password or leave both fields blank, click on the "Invoke" button and then try to use the other .asmx options on the first page).

Regards,
Stéphane.

Re: [plugin] XMLTV Importer

I am using BTV4.5 and XMLTV Import 4.8. The problem that I encounter is the occasional lost of video source in the importer channel setup. In the BTV, I could view live tv from the video source but xmltv importer just cannot find it.

The issue can be temporary resolved by restarting BTV but after a couple of day, the problem resurface again.

Any suggession?

There is nothing you can do about it, only restarting BTV or killing the BTVNetworkService.exe process can correct the issue. Maybe the upcoming version of BTV (4.6) will fix this issue.

Stéphane.
