New Zealanders using BTV

Hi guys...I was just wondering if some NZ'ers could post how well BTV works for them there.

Wife and I are planning on moving to NZ in Dec 2010. We lived there in 04-05 for a yr. Just wondering how well the USBIRT and BTV work with Sky TV? Any issues with guide updates, shows not listed at proper times etc?

Sounds exciting. You've got family or job transfer to take you back?

With any kind of Satellite you need their STB, right? You'd probably want more than one to do the multiple concurrent recordings. I'd also be concerned about guide updates.

Very exciting! We have no family there, that will be the hard part about living there (but the internet and a web cam can take the edge off that). Huge amount of stress about the move....I wouldn't be surprised if it is going to cost 25-30K to move there (the dog alone is going to be approx 4-5k). But we feel that the lifestyle in NZ is what we want and we will be able to fly back to Canada to visit family (every couple of years). We could have just visited NZ every couple of years for vacation or we could live there. Or by living there it will be like we are on vacation all the time and visit relatives on our trips to the old home country .

We are just waiting to hear about a opening in Dargaville (where we lived in 04-05), before we start the paper work in motion. If the spot there doesn't open....we have been looking around Hawkes Bay (yummy wine country).

Onto the second part of your question. I guess I should have asked NZ or Aussies...as they use SkyTV in both countries and wouldn't be surprised if they are almost identical. NZ does have 3-4 channels over the air, so for more channels Sky satellite (stb box) is the only other choice. I guess FTA would be there, but I can not see a reliable guide for that option.

I guess an easy way to see if there is guides....install BTV and pick New Zealand as the country. See what happens after that

Re: New Zealanders using BTV

I doubt there's guide support - you'll probably have to use xmltv. It's the way I've always had to use BTV and it works perfectly.
