Re: about Beyond TV

You don't need a static IP. I assume you mean using BeyondTV Link? The limit would depend on your server horsepower and your network bandwidth.

I regularly run 6 clients all HD.

Re: about Beyond TV

Zara may be referring to placeshifting, probably using the old Community Web Admin & VLC. I have no idea of the concurrent user limit in that scenario, but I suspect it would be 2 or 3 max based on CPU utilization alone, and probably can't handle more than one user per file. I have no experience with the newer Silverlight based placeshifting, but I also suspect the same limitations would apply. If Zara's just talking about user accounts to access the Web Admin for download, scheduling, etc; that might be easier, but lots of downloads could get you in trouble with your ISP pretty quickly.

Re: about Beyond TV

If you're talking placeshifting videos over the Internet, Slingbox style, you're pretty much going to be limited to 1 connection, since Cable and DSL are much slower uploading than they are downloading. You cannot placeshift live TV, either - but you might be able to start a recording and placeshift it in close to real time. You can do all this through the web interface. So try it locally first and see how it works.

There's also a product called BTV Link. Link is bascially the BTV front end, but set up for network access. You can access your recordings and live TV from any computer in your house - but this needs to be a local network. You're not going to have the bandwidth you need to try to use Link over the Internet.
