Hauppauge HD-PVR, .tp files, tools like VideoRedo?

I just got the Hauppauge HD-PVR 1212, recorded some HD programs with BTV, got .tp files in h.264, but VideoRedo can't edit them because it doesn't support h.264 format (yet). Anyone knows another tool like VideoRedo that can edit h.264 tp files and demux them into mp4 clips with no loss in quality?

Have you tried either Handbrake or H264TS_Cutter ? Also, I heard the latest Videoredo beta will edit H.264 files.

Yeah, there is a beta for VideoRedo but I think it's only available for those who bought the higher-priced VideoRedo TVSuite, which I don't have. I will give the two tools you suggested a try.

Just to jump it I have tried handbrake and cutter and cannot get either of them to work. I am a Videoredo user(not suite) and have not seen a update or beta for my version but have heard the same rumours for something like a year. In the mean time the only solution I have found to work is showsqueeze to divx and edit with either virtualdub or avidemux.

Foolish question, but how have you been able to get BTV to showsqueeze the files? I got it to work once, and now it fails with seconds of trying.

Not a foolish question at all. I just showsqueeze to The best HD format. Maybe 1 out of 20 doesn't work but after a reboot it it usually does. What version are you using?

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR, .tp files, tools like VideoRedo?

Are you using the 1212 with a set-top box, whether it be digital cable or satellite? I'm considering jumping into one of these HD-PVRs myself, and hoping to use BTV 4.9 along with this setup, and hope that Blu-ray burning support will be something to look into. Anyone have ideas about whether or not BTV has STB support through component/HD broadcasts using this device?

That is what it is used for almost exclusively, stb out via component to HD PVR. Success rate is mixed, some have hardware or signal issues, occasional lockups, but I believe the vast majority are ok. Read through the forum for hints and tweaks.
