Palm Pre - WebOS

So has anyone thought about the possibility of a BTV app on the WebOS. I just thought that since the OS works with java built programs there might be some cool stuff we could do. i guess i just wanted to start a thread and see what people thought about the idea.

Re: Palm Pre - WebOS

I haven't bought a Pre yet, but will likely do so within a couple of weeks. Yes, it would be desirable to be able to schedule recordings from my Pre, but I expect that can be done from the phone's web interface already.

More importantly than that, though, I'm hoping I'll be able to play back BTV content on the Pre without any extra conversion steps beyond Showsqueezing. Have you tried this yet? Can you comment?

Re: Palm Pre - WebOS

I'd be curious if something could be done with placeshifter. It allows you to launch your own application (like vlc, which I've had the pocketpc version) but it would be interesting if there was something that could work on Palm, Gphones, Blackberries, etc.

You should be able to access the remote function using firefly mobile (or whatever they call it). Probably the best if developing is do something in java so it works on multiple platforms.

On the Android front, MS is working on a Siliverlight port.

Re: Palm Pre - WebOS

I gotta admit, that would be VERY cool if I could access my BTV from my Pre, like I do with my lappy. Even cooler if there was a way to do it remotely (like from work or something). Right now, I record all my Adult Swim shows overnight with BTV. Then I use WinFF to convert them for my Pre while I'm showering the next morning. It's free, btw. Drag and drop them over to my Pre and get dressed and stuff while it's copying. If anyone develops this app for the Pre, I'm sure you could try it out on the Pre Forums homebrew section and get it transferred to Palm's website as an actual app for sale if it works well. I know I'D buy it!
