Avermedia Duet - QAM

Anyone here got the Avermedia Duet to work with QAM?

I can't get it to work with Beyond TV 4.9.2, but works great with MCE. During setup no QAM tuners are show. Shows up fine in device manager, and as stated it works great with Win7 Media Center.

If not has the HVR-2250 been reletively trouble free for BTV?

Thanks

Re: Avermedia Duet - QAM

I guess the most basic question is: "Is it on the list of supported QAM tuners"?

exactly. I didn't buy mine with the expectation of someday BTV supporting it as I see no evidence of any intent to expand the current list (which is mostly hauppauge).

if one really wanted many more QAM tuners to be supported they could look at something like mythtv, otherwise one would be more satisfied sticking with the established list, as expensive as they are.

I've gotten out of the mode of buy-and-hope....

In the past BeyondTV worked great with many "unsupport Tuners". (at least the ones I have used have all worked until now). I do understand that it is not on the list, and cannot expect it to work, but again as with others not on the list I have gotten them to work.

I like Hauppauge, but the prices are crazy.

Since it does work with Win7 MCE, I might try using a new PVR solution for a while. At least until Snapstream expands their support for QAM.

Thanks for the posts, and if someone has gotten the Avermedia to work with BTV please post it.

Thanks.

Re: Avermedia Duet - QAM

Unsupported analog tuners often work fine because the interface is standardized for pretty much all video capture hardware.

But the ClearQAM interface is NOT standardized yet, so if a device is not on the supported list, it won't work with BTV.
