What gives?

I purchased BTVLink 4.91 in March for my newest Link machine and, it can with the DVD Plug-in included, it was there but now, it is no longer available on my Link Viewscape menu.

The machine is running Vista Business edition; I wiped and did a clean install after a non BTV issue and after I D/L and installed Link 4.91 there was no DVD Burning option. I used the same product key that was mailed to me when I made my purchase.

What's up with that?

Re: DVD Plug-in Vanished.

I'm confused by your post. You say it 'can' with the DVD plug-in. Did you mean 'came'? As far as I know, it only works for 21 days unless you buy the plug-in separately. Did you?

Re: DVD Plug-in Vanished.

TYPO, in that instance, can = came.

Yes, I purchased the burner plug-in for my server a while back ('07) and, it is OK.

I believe that the DVD burner plug-in was also included in Link as a special offer in March when I purchased a second Link license; I am pretty sure that it was there when I reloaded and was still under a trial license but, when I loaded my registration key, the burner was not activated.

When I went to "Recorded Shows", there was an option (On my Link machine) to Burn the recorded show to DVD from Link; it is not there now.

This is not a "Trouble-shooting" issue, my BTV is working great, I just want what I think I paid for.

Re: DVD Plug-in Vanished.

Then why not submit a trouble ticket? Also, I'm not happy about your choice of tags.

Re: DVD Plug-in Vanished.

I've had the DVD burning plugin vanish twice. Once was when I accidentally disconnected the DVD drive from my computer (doh!) and the other time when I didn't have working internet access. I believe BTV "phones home" to validate the license to the DVD burning plugin (and other paid-for plugins). If it can't validate the license, it doesn't let you use it.

Ma'am, the reason that I did not immediately submit a trouble ticket was because I wanted figure out whether I was in left field or not; I was hoping to get a response like, "Yeah, the BTV plug-in was included with my version of Link" or, "I seen that happen before" or even, something like "Dude you are imagining things".

I am sorry that you were not "Happy" with the Tag associated with this message but, this is only "The Inna-net". I've found that hitting "ALT + F4" at the offending message along with turning on BTV and fing a relaxing show to watch works wonders.

Thanks again for the response and, if after watching a couple of hours of a good show you are still "Unhappy" about something on a message board, please seek professional help.

Mel

ETA: I found out that NetFlix will now stream movies to my Windows Media Center without me buying an external appliance; this made me very HAPPY! Maybe you can find something like this to brighten your day. :-))

Thank you.

The plug-in was there and then it wasn't, I was sure that someone else has seen this; thanks for the help.

And, it "re-appeared"!

Looking back, it was one of those "Doh" moments; Although I had reinstalled my operating system, I had not put my DVD burning software. So, coincidentally when I reloaded all my Hauppague 1600 software, the plug-in became active again.

It's kinda amazing how integrated all that stuff is.
