Search function in Recorded shows

I am not sure why there isn't search function in the recording. It is really frustrating to find program without that option. The sort option helped somewhat, but still it is problem when we have recordings run into thousands.

In my case many programs I edit and convert to H264, and all those recordings show as "unknown" , so I have too many unknown. Even the ones that I have not, it is still a big list ( ex Simpsons).

I think it is a must to have search feature in recordings. If it is already there, then I did not find it in BTV help doc.

Re: Search function in Recorded shows

I have to agree on the better sorting options. Check in the BTV Downloads section of the forums and look for the BTV Info or BTV Negotiator apps. Both will read your BTV library and give you options of editing the tags so they don't show as Unknown...or with BTV-N, just do a lookup against IMDB and have it insert that information into the recording.

Re: Search function in Recorded shows

I was trying to figure out if I recorded a show before (Jumanji) and of course there was no simple way to do it, so I'm resurrecting this thread. This is one of those features that should be easy to implement (add a search button, maybe to the options in a recording folder or for all recordings) and let you do a freaking title search, or maybe go ahead a do other searches like channel, date recorded, original air date...

Negotiator does this, but it would be nice to do this in the viewscape.

Re: Search function in Recorded shows

There is a program called "Whereisit" that can perform this function. It is an index for everything you post to it, CD's, DVD's, HD folders. You can set up multiple catalogs and open them one at a time or all at once. Thus a catalog for mp3s, others for TV recordings, etc.

Re: Search function in Recorded shows

Thanks Michael, I'll try that. What does it search, title? filename? metadata?

Re: Search function in Recorded shows

you can search title name and "in description" aka metadata.

file names aren't supported in this search, but if BTV recorded it, then the filename is almost the same as the title name.
