Daylight Saving begins March 8

I was just checking for any new shows when I noticed that my guide was showing shows starting an hour earlier after March 8. I'll have to keep an eye on that come Sunday, as it most affects Timeslot shows. At least last November, I had to re-assign them. Luckily I only have one.

Odd occurrence: My original title for this thread was: Daylight Saving Time beings March 8, but the forum refused to let me post it. Actually, if the title just had the word 'Time' only, it would cause an error. Peculiar.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

This question gets asked twice a year. BTV will correct the shows once the change occurs. No action required.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

Not so much a question as an observance. Last November, my Timeslot recording did not correct itself, I had to manually adjust it. I'll just need to take note of it come Sunday.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

The timeslot recording bug for time changes was listed as "corrected" in 4.8.1 released 20 March 2008 (DST Time change breaks Timeslot recordings). Release notes are found here: http://www.snapstream.com/products/b...ease_notes.asp

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

I've been on 4.8.2 since 7/2008 (see sig). Nevertheless, if it doesn't correct itself, I'll submit a support ticket.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

The time has come and passed, and I missed everything I wanted recorded tonight, Sunday night. There is absolutely still a bug. The 11pm news is in the program guide for 10pm.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

Very strange as it all worked flawlessly for me. I did have one Vista computer that didn't properly change the system time, but I corrected that.

BTV worked fine.

Not sure what is different about your environment.

My EPG didn't update for the correct time yet. Family Guy recorded at 8pm instead of 9pm tonight I got the Simpsons instead. Not really a fair trade!

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

All the shows on our system recorded properly - including "record new episodes" and "timeslot recordings". Verify the correct time zone and that the feature to automatically update the clock for daylight savings time is enabled / checked...

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

Same issue here, got The Simpsons. Boo.

I did figure it out though. Because of the changes about when DST is supposed to start, you need to have Windows Updated right, which failed for me because I didn't have auto-update on (because it annoys me). User error, I suppose. Just wish BTV would've been smart enough to let me know I was being dumb.

You know something.. I think I have the same issue.. My time was off and I have my clock set to update via NTP. When I forced the update it still said 1 hour before. I'm running XP SP3 and assumed that the DST patch was included. When I try running the DST patch from MS, KB931836, it won't let me install it. Says not compatible. So I'm kinda stuck here unless I manually set the time I think.

Edit: I used TZEdit.exe to manually change the time zone settings in Windows.

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

Here's the thing with mine... I have Dimension 4 to update the time every 4 hours.. it hasn't, and still hasn't. However, the guide shows everything on an hour earlier and everything is still recording correctly. Go fig! So I'll wait until everything is done recording tonight to actually update my system time. Why mess with what's working?

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

I guess I was lucky, my Sunday night recordings (simpsons, family guy, the unit) all recorded as should be. Weird that some of us have problems and some don't.

I bet there's something in common with those who had problems, like maybe you're using a paytv service (cable/satellite) and the problem was with their guides.... cuz mines all OTA and I was good...

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

I hope someone from snapstream reads this post. I live in the Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada (V4V 1C7) and am serviced by Shaw cable. You have not updated your time for this area and thus it tells me my pc time is not what the snap stream time is and then move all show start times by 1 hour.

Please update the snap stream time for this area.

Thank you

Re: Daylight Saving begins March 8

My DST problem stemmed from the fact that SP3 does NOT include the DST patch (I mistakenly assumed it did.) Once I downloaded/installed the two SP3 DST KB patches, the PVR immediately updated the time and my guide is correct again. Luckily, no shows were lost, the guide just showed everything starting an hour earlier and recorded as necessary.
