How is this possible?

I have one HVR-1600 and I recorded 2 HD shows at the same time, And have no freaking clue how it did it. I am totally serious too. I know its not possible, But It recorded Lost and Life at the same time both in HD?????? I also have a pvr-150 in there and it was recording American Idol. How is this possible???????????

Ok sorry I figured it out... Man I am dumb!

Re: How is this possible?

In theory it is possible to record more than one program with one tuner.

But the programs need to be on the same sub-channel. And BeyondTV most likely does not support picking out more than sub-sub channel (StreamSnip does that.)

Re: How is this possible?

No theory involved. before the streamsnip on the fly btv recorded all subchannels, you could watch or extract any subchannel you wanted. However that is only OTA and they have to be the same channel, which this was not. I suspect he only recorded the SD version of one of the shows, as the 1600 has a digital and an analog tuner that can run simultaneously.

Re: How is this possible?

ZetaVu ---

I mis-wrote. I should have said that the programs need to be on different sub-channels on the same channel.

The "theory" comes form the fact that while BeyondTV could extract any or all of the sub-channels from the data stream, BeyondTV only extracts one of the sub-channels. (There are other programs that will extract any or all of the sub-channels.)

Re: How is this possible?

BS George, Prior to 4.9, BTV recorded all subchannels and you could switch between subchannels using the channel change during playback. When you streamsnipped, you removed the other subchannels. 4.9 and forward streamsnipping is down during recordings. There is no theory involved. Honestly its like you'll only post something about Beyondtv if you can include some kind of rip in it.
