BeyondTV Link Firewall Ports
I just finished a project to access my BeyondTV 4.9 server from a BeyondTV Link 4.9 client that was outside my network's firewall. I found the information in the KB article to be out of date, so I'm posting my finding on required ports and protocols for BTV & BTV Link version 4.9 here.
This HowTo is written assuming you are using a standard home firewall (Linksys, D-Link, or Linux iptables) that's policy is to allow everything going out, but allow nothing in. You will need to enable these incoming Ports and NAT them to your BTV Server's IP. Port / Protocol 8129 / tcp 8130 / tcp 8131 / tcp |
